I currently have Charter for my internet/cable service, and honestly the cable service plans suck and the prices aren't great either. Back in Columbia, Time Warner owns the cable lines and they provide much better service, but unfortunatly we don't have that in this area.
I'm thinking about going with a dish. Does anyone here have any experience with DISH Network or DirecTV ? And is it really cheaper than cable?

Its been my experience that when all is said and done, satellite ends up costing the same as cable......although, I prefer the quality of satellite over cable.

I ended up going with DISH Network. I'm not happy with Charter Cable so i'm gonna keep their internet service and give the cable the boot.
I hate to have two separate bills, but I rather have two bills and be happy than to have one bill and crappy ass service.
we had dish for a while i was happy to get back to cable.
chater w/ the highest speed internet and all the channels was like $150 bux. i called and complained and the woman reduced it to $79.99 about 6 months ago.

yeah we pay $79 for all the channels and 3mb/s internet, and that includes some free OnDemand movies... i have no complaints out of my charter service, although thats truly rare in this area from what i've heard. i would never go with the dish myself, too much extra equipment, and i've seen bad storms bring the reception down to a mist on the screen. I don't know why other people have had problems, but we've been totally satisfied

we have directv and it RARELY goes out in storms. it has a to be a storm where you fear for your life to make it go out. Charter definitely sucks
ya there was 1 storm in like 5 years when the dish quit working and that was bc hail was beating it severely.

find out which one gets best service in your area... nobody anywhere near me has satellite, simply because everyone gets awesome service with charter. however i've heard from ppl in g'ville that their charter service sucks.

i have direct tv. i agree with osborne, it hardly ever goes out during storms, and i have like all the movie channels and car/sports channels and stuff. i dont have any trouble with it.
