BTW why is it whenever they talk about slaves, it's always about blacks? There were also white, South American Indian, and American Indian slaves - not to mention black slaves owned by black masters in Africa...

Lets reinstate slavery for forty or fifty years, then repeal it, and then apologize for that instance of slavery.

The Philippines was under the control of Spanish, Japanese, then America...pretty much slaves under each nation. over 100 years of detainment under another country with your family being murdered, used for labor, your culture being replaced by another, etc...

But you don't see any modern day Filipinos complaining about that.

i changed my mind. i think it's awesome. gesture is symbolic only. it's not like they are paying out reparations. in essence, it's free.

contrast to the fucking japanese, who won't even acknowledge nanking, let alone apologize for it. the majority of the japanese don't recognize that conquering asia was an act of colonization; instead their damn history books have twisted it into some kind of war of liberation. bull fucking shit.
