I am this very low level maintanence man with pretty much no edjucation or talent. I just show up for work on time everyday and try to TIG weld as much shit together as possible. I unplug scales and computers too. The most important thing about my night is not getting greased up with chicken batter by a mexican with a high pressure water hose. Sometimes you just can't help it, and that sucks. other times you come out almost dry and feel really damn slick. Its also really fun to watch all the supervisors from different departments fight every morning when shit gets fucked up trying to get started.

Well Wal-Mart does employ a lot of people who are at or a little above the poverty line, so them having the government forms for assistance isn't abnormal.

But if you're a cashier making $7 an hour working 32 hours a week, what do you expect? The good wages are for the people who aspire to move up or have the proper education to move up quickly. If you wanna work for $7 an hour for 5 years, so be it. You want to stay poor apparently.

Fact of the Day - 1% of America's population works at Wal-Mart.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Granted, i'm going to college to get my Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Systems, but it does come in handy in the retail management career path that I am choosing, and it'll help me as I move up in the long run.

I've worked for city government creating census tract documents for 4 years, i've worked for a telecommunications company that supplies VoIP Service as well as DSL service, and I currently work for the University of SC Upstate, and being in retail has been the one career that paid the most and provided an much easier tract for me to move up in the future. So for the pencil pusher that will claim that his/her job is so much better, hell i've been there, and i'm only 21.

When people think retail, they think $6 an hour bullshit jobs, and not even thinking of management. But as I said earlier, i'm making $13 an hour and i'm not a manager as of yet. And again, when my salary doubles upon my promotion/graduation next year, i'll be sure to let you guys know.

I work for K-Mart. Equally dismal pay, no benefits, but at least they give me in excess of 30 hours a week.

What else is the average joe supposed to get? $10 an hour for doing nothing? You can get someone without a high school diploma to count money, or to put up merchanside.

Their wages are shit if you have a shitty job. If you're 20, don't have a high school diploma, and you chop meat, WTF are you supposed to make? Next to nothing? Yep.

WTF should average Joe get for hours? He's part time. Apparently he doesn't want 30 hours a week. If you're part time, you shouldn't get over 32 hours anyway.

And of course full timers get lauded benefits packages, are they not supposed to? Do you know what it would cost to supply every part timer with a benefits package? If Wal-Mart did that, prices would go up, and everyone would bitch and complain. There's your answer.

Granted you work at the competitor, K-Mart. I can see why you get dismal pay, as they generate barely enough profits to keep them in the green. And apparently they're giving you in excess of 30 hours a week because you aren't costing them that much to employ and you dont have any benefits. If you have an open schedule, and they won't give you a full time position, go someplace else. If you're in college, or have something else to occupy your time and you can't work any shift, then there's not much you can complain about.

So if the pay is shit and the wages are shit, then apparently the job is shit altogether.

I do alot of cash audits and fraud investigations on people that we finance. It is fairly interesting, but it doesn't pay as much as I'd like. If I get in with the company I'm gunning for for pharmaceuticals, I would have a base salary of 50k, a company car, plus a yearly bonus ranging between 10-40k. I'd have the potential to double my salary and still have a daily driver that I'm not paying for. Right now my company has me set up in an '05 Mustang, but like I said, I'm worth more money.
