jimlab 01-12-2007, 10:45 PM Some asshat who goes by "photopaintball" has been posting on the RX-7 Club in the OEC sub-forum about how he's going to have a 600 horsepower pump gas 2.3T FC for under $5,000 (yes, he's been spending too much time with Nihilanthic over the last few months).
So, I dropped by Torque Central to check out his project thread. Well, besides the slight omission that he's currently so broke that he has to use an NA 2.3 from a Ranger until he "goes all out", he's also working on making a custom lightweight hood...

PVC pipe for a hood frame?!? How in the hell do you top that? Gate latches instead of hood pins?
 Are there any more pics you can post?
wotnartd 01-12-2007, 11:07 PM Apparently the lightweight aluminum hood just doesn't cut it?
Say No To Pistons 01-12-2007, 11:16 PM I hope his "hood" blows away when he enters the highway.
Wow... I've seen some rigged ass shit on fcs...

jimlab 01-13-2007, 12:17 AM It's amazing what you can make out of some scrap angle iron...

Switchboard looks like something he may have rigged up to kill lights... or some type of transformer/inverter.
I think the fire extinguisher is the youngest(and most valuable) thing on that pos.

jimlab 01-13-2007, 12:05 PM Switchboard looks like something he may have rigged up to kill lights... or some type of transformer/inverter.I did a little sleuthing and it's apparently a "relay box". I thought it was a currency converter. Go figure. :D

hahahah, seats look like the most expensive part of the car
I've given away FC's in better condition than that, with the same seats... I've never given away a fire extinguisher though.
Say No To Pistons 01-13-2007, 03:03 PM hahahah, seats look like the most expensive part of the car
How bout the wheels?
Hey Zero, give one to me.
snowball 01-14-2007, 10:41 AM that car has death trap written all over it.
There's a crapload of FC parts that's been sitting outside for about 2 years, you can have all of those... Some of it could bring you some money, couple sets of s4 taillights in good shape, s4 rear bumper cover, other various crap... I need to throw it all away, not worth the effort of selling to me.

I'll pay you shipping and a lil extra extra.
aznpoopy 01-15-2007, 12:07 AM that shit is too ghetto, even for jersey.
jimlab 01-15-2007, 02:33 PM According to the owner, the PVC pipe is "light, cheap, and doubles as a handy reservoir for the water injection system"...
No, not really. I just made that up. :D
Cosby 01-15-2007, 02:41 PM lol I have a more ghetto FC behind my warehouse :)
Supper 01-15-2007, 04:39 PM I think it would be nifty to build a lightweight hood out of aluminum rod and mesh, especially if one lived somewhere that it didn't rain or snow much. Would help keep the engine bay nice and cool and it would be one of a kind.
But then again, thats just the snowmobiler in me since mesh hoods are the cats ass on sleds.
Animal 01-15-2007, 06:45 PM feh
just weld some expanded metal on and call it good :-P
anyone tried paper mache? :lmfao:
jimlab 01-15-2007, 06:49 PM I think it would be nifty to build a lightweight hood out of aluminum rod and mesh...You would. But then again, you've got 4 or 5 generations worth of mullet in your blood so you can't help yourself... :D
AmishBoy 01-15-2007, 07:49 PM Yeah that's pretty ghetto. It reminds me of this old picture.
