"Drywall screws are not multi-purpose screws. They are a specialty screw designed to efficiently install drywall. For me, nothing screams “hack job” louder than the misuse of these fasteners. I’ve seen them used to build pressure treated decks, to set handrails, and even for framing houses.

Why shouldn’t you use drywall screws?"

I can't tell you how many times I've snapped the heads of drywall screws while installing drywall. Does this still mean its the wrong fastener for the job?

I think the best screws are square/phillips head deck screws. They're like a hybrid. Awesome.

Square aka Robertson screws kick ass. they almost never strip, and even if are super stuck in there can still be removed. obviously there are exceptions but I think that's the best "head" design.

But if I find one in a car I still get pissed off.

i think the old legend is that the reason we dont use square head for everything because GM didnt want to switch all of its screws from phillips and slotted head to square head, therefore philipps head won.
