Tofuball 02-21-2009, 10:00 AM "Drywall screws are not multi-purpose screws. They are a specialty screw designed to efficiently install drywall. For me, nothing screams “hack job” louder than the misuse of these fasteners. I’ve seen them used to build pressure treated decks, to set handrails, and even for framing houses. Why shouldn’t you use drywall screws?" http://carpenterconfidential.com/?p=79 DeRFmAn 02-21-2009, 12:35 PM did you mess something up or what? Supper 02-21-2009, 04:55 PM I can't tell you how many times I've snapped the heads of drywall screws while installing drywall. Does this still mean its the wrong fastener for the job? Animal 02-22-2009, 02:55 PM yeah, they're definately not the toughest screw on the shelf. wotnartd 02-22-2009, 03:16 PM I think the best screws are square/phillips head deck screws. They're like a hybrid. Awesome. bx7 02-23-2009, 05:35 AM Is there a good screw? Phillips, square, star, it doesn't matter they all suck. Tofuball 02-23-2009, 05:39 AM I bought a huge box of deck screws and use it for everything :) Terrh 02-26-2009, 02:27 PM Square aka Robertson screws kick ass. they almost never strip, and even if are super stuck in there can still be removed. obviously there are exceptions but I think that's the best "head" design. But if I find one in a car I still get pissed off. Steel 02-26-2009, 02:32 PM i think the old legend is that the reason we dont use square head for everything because GM didnt want to switch all of its screws from phillips and slotted head to square head, therefore philipps head won. pompies 03-06-2009, 01:52 PM yeah!read the instructions on the packet first before you start using it! drywall screws are for drywalls and nothing else! oakback 03-06-2009, 02:04 PM Is there a good screw? http://possessedonline.com/forums/imagehosting/5495d1fd601fa1.gif pompies 03-06-2009, 02:16 PM Best screw is from your own sister!!!!!!BWAHAHAHAHAHA! |
