Did you know that the ground under Yellowstone Lake is rising at a rate of something like 4" a year on the south end and dropping at 2" a year on the north (IIRC)? Old Faithfull has lost the predictability which was its namesake. Sure, it still goes off every XX minutes, but sometimes its less, sometimes more, and there have been a few times in the last five or so years that it hasn't gone off at all for one sequince. There was something about the temps in the paint pots getting hotter too, and a bunch of smaller geysers that had been thought dead for decades (one was thought to have been dead for 100+ years) have started erupting again. All in all, the geothermic landscape of yellowstone is in one huge fucking tumult. The only good thing about that is Jackson would be gone before they realized what was happening. It is used for such disasters as the one being discussed, the theory is that when such an event happens it will destroy all life on teh planet.
