This #1 of two that we are building right now. This one is a 4g64 block and crank, .025" overbore, our custom Ross 9.0:1 forged pistons, Eagle 2g rods. The balance shafts have been eliminated per the VFAQ on DSM Talk. The head, intake manifold, cams and turbo are all stock 2g (95) Eclipse GSt. The cam gears are AEM for the 4g63 that have been modified to work with 4g64's higher deck height. This one is going into the car this week, as soon as we pressure wash the engine bay first. Then we will be piping a Starion fmic and a TurboXS RFL blowoff valve. Dyno #s soon to follow.
We are expecting a 30-40hp increase over the 4g63 motor at stock boost and possibly as much as 50 lbft of torque from the 1.5+mm larger bore as well as the .5 higher bump in compression ratio. The stock t25 may be spooling as soon as 1500rpm.
We have one more in the works too. It will have massive capabilities. Same exact bottom end, but 1g head. Crower Ti valves, retainers and springs. Crower 414 cams. AEM gears. ACT st 5 clutch (experimental...unsprung 6 puck and 2600lb plate), SFP tubular exhaust manifold, t3/t04e 50 trim turbo, TiAL 35mm wg, GET 3" downpipe, GET 3" exhaust to APEX'i turbo N1 can. APEX'i SAFC, AVCR, SITC. 2.5" piping and Spearco fmic. TurboXS RFL blowoff. FWD car=tire smoke in any gear..

Ramkatral 10-30-2002, 07:17 AM Yea, and that tire spinning in every gear isn't gonna be good off the line. Not good at all. That's the beauty of having a GSX, except when it comes to fighting bog.
We are well aware of that, as well as torque steer.
This is where the scramble boost function of the AVCr comes into play. I can drop the boost lever down for the launch and delay it based on time, gear or speed. Very handy.
We also have AGX's and coilovers on this car to fine-tune the launch characteristics. On 15" slicks it should be pulling 1.7 or so in the 60'.

We are more than happy to modify/tune for Volkswagen. When I owned my shop in MD about 4 yrs ago (Xtreme Performance Center), I had a ratio of about 50/50 VW and Japanese cars.
I had a stable of several very quick VR6s...GTi's and Corrados.
The main one was an all motor 96 VR6 Gti that on the stock bottom end was running 13.80s at about 101mph. Back then, that was something special. Another Corrado SLC with intake, header, exhaust and Autothority chip could spin 4th gear on his 17s whenever he wanted to. I didnt have too many really serious 2.0L customers... but I'm willing to help anyone out now with the benefit of add'l experience since then.
I expect to be getting more VW business soon, a dealership just opened up here at the Beach a few months ago.
My new building will be up by the first of the year, complete with a showroom, and then I plan on advertising for the first time since I moved here in Jan 99. Most people at the Beach are shocked to find out that we are even here. Underground... but somehow I have 15 cars in the garage...

I do have a potential customer at Shaw AFB that drives a 1.8t Jetta that I would consider a Stage 3.... I may be building an upgraded intercooler system for him. We'll see.

Keep in mind that these #s are just guesstimates, based on even more #s. In fact, the stock turbo may actually hurt us in this area. It may severely limit our powerband, the turbo will spool so quickly and be over it's efficiency range well before the rev limiter (will artiificially set at 7000 rpm, due to the rod ratio of the stroker).
I would love to see a big t28 on this car. In a stock 4g63 the big t28 has done high 11s. With the exhaust housing opened up a little more, and a bigger exhaust wheel to handle the higher displ, as well as some head work and cams, it could be capable of 10s on this motor, but it is a fwd.....so not likely. At least not this year

Is the 4G64 the 2.4L engine that comes in the PT Cruiser or PT Cruiser Turbo? Or the 2.4L that came in the N/A Eclipse Spyders. Or the 2.4L in the new Outlander?

I dunno about the new Outlander, but both of our motors were sourced from 95 Galants. The GS Spyder has the same 2.4L SOHC motor.
The last few days, I have been seriously talking to a guy about doing a DOHC 4g64 built turbo motor in his 97 Galant.
This would be a hella sleeper. May possibly use the AEM EMS to manage it.researching now.
