That's a bad ass car. I've been looking at the newest line of 3 series' recently in my search for a new car. I've spent a good deal of time driving a 528i and some time driving a 740i sport both of which I like but are larger than i'd want for my own car.

Do you like it?

bimmergirl
01-22-2002, 10:25 PM
Heck yes I love it! It handles beautifully, has the smoothest ride, and is much lighter than a 5 or 7 series. Sometimes I would like it to feel the road a bit more, because you can get up to 100mph and still feel like your'e gliding. This one is a bit better about it than one w/out the extra package because of the suspension and low profile tires that come stock. I really like the steptronic adaptive transmission too as far as automatics go, but lol I've never had a manual.

Yeah I know what you mean about the whole glide thing, it can get scary when you look down and realize you doing well over 100. The steptronic stuff is fun, i'd rather have manual on ours but that just didn't happen. We have the steptronic/manumatic sport shift system in the 7, and it is pretty cool to run a BMW V8 up to the redline.

As far as I an remember i've never even driven a 3 before, I guess I should to see how it compares to the 5 and 7.

my momma almost bought one. they seem pretty cool. they have the 1.8L turbo engine, sport suspension, 5 speed, and i think its a little lighter. have i missed anything?

Uglymexican19
01-29-2002, 08:04 PM
well my vw doesn't have much.

wolfsburg edition
black
16" alloy wheels
5 speed manual
150 hp (factory)
1.8 turbo
20 valves
v4
ASR
goes up to 160 mph.http://C:/MyDocuments/myFiles/MyPictures/front1.jpg

In a magazine they compared the vr6, with this one and they are pretty much as fast, except that the vr6 uses more fuel.
So i guess is worth buying this one instead... *
The 2002 are better, they have 180hp and 17" alloy wheels.http://C:/MyDocuments/myFiles/MyPictures/front1.jpg

01-29-2002, 10:28 PM
hmm...cool Whats it run in the 1/8?

a chip from Neuspeed (http://www.neuspeed.com) will make a big difference. they are supposed to give like 40-50 hp gains. you might want to check that out. and being turbo, a nice big exaust will make quite a difference.

good tuning...

V-6 mustangs register 85 but they can't get nowhere near 70

Your top speed is probably around 135-145, if not governed at a lower speed

The 94-98 V-6 mustangs register 120 and the fuel cutoff is 110mph.

ooops, forgot to log in. it would look much better if it were lowered a few inches though and get some bilsteins. get a nice big rear anti roll bar, and youve got once hell of an autox car!

HighTachPrez

No no i'm not bashing your car, i just find it kinda hard to believe that it can go 160mph with 150hp. I'm sure with a turbo or something extra you can get pretty close Very few cars can make it to 160. Power, weight, and aerodynamics are the 3 main factors in deciding top speed. Power isn't really there, aerodynamics are good, like most VWs it should weigh pretty light.

In my opinion the Jettas are a very good all around car. Nothing to buy STRICTLY for drag racing or curves, but has a happy median. Not to mention rock solid construction and good reliability. Cool car Hop over to www.hightach.com, they might know a bit more about it than i do

Uglymexican19

I never said that it makes it to 160mph because i have not done it. That is what it registers, oh by the way i do have turbo.

I said that you were a light weight.....jonathan, not clint. umm, i said it beacause you have only been 110 mph....which isnt' that incredibly fast....i've got a story from earlier tonight, i'm gonna post it in the kills section.
