BATMAN 12-14-2007, 09:14 AM Time and time we've heard stories, beliefs, concepts that angels have fallen to hell, souls have fallen to hell, but can The "evil" repent and rise to heaven? For example, that hooker that was hanging around Jesus. Which way did she go? Up Down Sideways? BATMAN 12-14-2007, 10:26 AM if that is the case, then where is the motivation to be a "good" person on earth if you know that u can say "sorry" and hit cloud 9? Tofuball 12-14-2007, 10:46 AM if that is the case, then where is the motivation to be a "good" person on earth if you know that u can say "sorry" and hit cloud 9? You've confused salvation and sanctification, a normal mistake caused by Catholic dogma. IHI 12-16-2007, 05:00 AM if that is the case, then where is the motivation to be a "good" person on earth if you know that u can say "sorry" and hit cloud 9? It's quite simple. Genuine salvation moves one to avoid sin for its own sake, not for the sake of reaching Heaven. The believer is heartbroken that he continues to sin (as it is not humanly possible to stop completely) and knows that he is an abomination in the sight of the Lord because of it. Artificial believers do not have a spiritual relationship with God, and feel no such remorse for offending Him time and again with their humanly errors. HOLY X-RAY BATMAN! 2ndGen.Rocket 12-17-2007, 08:15 PM My question is this: Many of you claim to be saved by Christ. From my understanding of this particular faith (know a few Evangelicals, dated one for a few years and dealt with her familiy's contempt for me as well), the simple belief that Christ died for your sins is your ticket into heaven. Obviously faith in the word of God goes along with that, but overall just accepting Jesus into your life and being grateful that he died so you could be saved is what gets you into heaven. Now, sin and the avoidance of any type of sin also plays a heavy role correct? What happens if you sin, even once? What is to prevent someone from accepting Christ in their life, believing he died for their sins, etc, and then sinning left and right? Do these people still have a place in heaven? What if they repent for their sins? I realize that is more than one question. In any case, if someone can provide a logical answer I would appreciate it. Thanks. bx7 12-18-2007, 12:19 PM My question is this: Many of you claim to be saved by Christ. It's a bit more but you get the basic concept. The Bible says that God requires that we repent (agree with God that we're wrong) and put our faith in Christ. The words "accepting Jesus into your life" sounds kinda flaky to me. The Gospel message is that we're in trouble with God for our sins and that we need an atonement. God offers us the atonement through Christ. Getting "saved" means that you agree with God that you've broken his law and that you want the atonement gift of Christ. It's really a condition of your heart, because you can insincerely ask for it and never get it. Now, sin and the avoidance of any type of sin also plays a heavy role correct? Do these people still have a place in heaven? What if they repent for their sins? You don't change immediately but the more of a relationship you build with God, Jesus and the Spirit, the more sin becomes offensive to you. How so you ask? Because you know Christ suffered for it, that God doesn't like it and it will distance your relationship to him. So you still sin but hopefully less and the Spirit resides inside of you to help you know when you shouldn't do something. Your second question is very good. It shows that people can say things they don't necessarily mean. Ultimately, the sincerity of any person is only truly known by God. Christians will still backslide from time to time but they might not finish strong but if they're Christians they won't be lost. I realize that is more than one question. In any case, if someone can provide a logical answer I would appreciate it. Thanks. Any thing else? mass extinction 01-07-2008, 03:02 PM It's a bit more but you get the basic concept.
