This guy has a local FC... I'm thinking of buying it just for a part out if the profit is worth it... If not, I def don't have any interest in the piece of shit. I have a friend who will invest 50% of the money to purchase it and do ALL of the pulling parts/disassembly... I put down 50% as well, and we split profit 50/50.
The guy wants $300 for the car.
s4 n/a, black, ruined interior, nothing good in there. The shell is very good iirc. No dents, pretty striaght body, I forget the paint condition. It does have the motor, 5-speed tranny, and rearend, pretty much everything in it. The engine is blown, but the tranny is fine, it has sat a couple of years.
As far as part out, I figure $100 for the engine, $100 for the tranny, and maybe a couple hundred for the shell itself... as mentioned, it's in pretty damn good shape. I'm not sure what the going rate for these things are anymore, but if I can flip a couple hundred quick cash for nothing... I'm always up for that.
Do you guys think it's worth it? Any certain valuable ($50+) that I should look for?
Thanks niggas.<3
AmishBoy 01-30-2007, 06:28 PM I don't think it would be worth the trouble. That motors not worth anything really. I have allot of s4 n/a parts like you just described that I can't give away. Nobody wants s4 n/a parts. The only thing it might have is 5 lug wheels and big brakes and that would only bring $150 or so.
Put it on Ebay. Make the starting bid $300 and if it sells go buy it after the auction. But I don't think you could get $300.
aznpoopy 01-30-2007, 06:31 PM you got plenty you can sell to rotards
easily make $300 back
body... tons of stuff: hood, hatch glass, bumpers, doors, mirrors, fenders, tails, pop up light assembly + motor.
tranny, d/s, rear end if its locking. someone may need axles or misc suspension bits, wiring harness(es), etc.
other crap...
what trim is it?
5 lug, calipers, etc
local guys might want bigger pieces, like the rear subframe...
Has 4 gxl wheels, 1 t2 wheel... saw another t2 wheel laying beside it... Has manual windows though. 5-lug + manual, i'd think GTU, but not 100% sure. Oh it has like 96k on it... think i forgot to mention that.
S4 body parts are worth $$$? I've GAVE more than one shell away lol.
Tofuball 01-30-2007, 11:09 PM Personally, I wouldn't take my time on it.
AmishBoy 01-30-2007, 11:11 PM Well the 5 lug swap is one good thing. GTU is an S5 thing. It's a GXL or a sport. If it has power windows it's a GXL. If it's a sport it's kind of rare. But no one will give you $300 for the rotors. S4 n/a rotors aren't worth crap and out of a blown motor even less.
I have thrown allot of S4 motor parts away.

hell yes when people crash or otherwise damage their cars. you might have to tolerate them sitting around for a while before someone picks them up.
the drivetrain / 5 lug swap + brakes is definitely worthwhile.
and actually, you might have a buyer here in NJ for the manual window conversion. my buddies power windows were ghetto rigged and it would be nice to switch it back to manual.
Alex-7 01-31-2007, 07:49 AM It's honestly not worth it.
I do this shit all the time (with midwest 7's on the 7 club) and I still don't know why. it turns a little profit each time, but in the grand scheme of things it's a waste of time. If you're in it for scoring free parts it's probably worth while, but it should not in any be thought of as a worth while investment.
It's a S4 GXL? the LSD is the most valuable part of the car. You can probably find some sucker to pay $200 (ish) for it (on ebay, not the club). That leves you with a whole turd of an S4 that you'll have to be patient (very patient) to salvage another $300-$400 from.
Profit $100-$200. Time invested= several months. Think about it.
Even if you have someone to do most of the work for you (and I do) It's not worth is in a monetary way.
If you have $150 that you're looking to invest, you're better off putting it all on #17 black at the roulette table. :bigthumb:
Hades12 01-31-2007, 07:56 AM Buy it, Grab the big parts they are talking about and crush the shell, Split the shell money to bring back the first part of your investment. You or he will have to take it to the yard to crush, if you let someone pay you for it you will get very little. Get the title as a lot of yards wont take a car without it.
Alex-7 01-31-2007, 08:01 AM S4 body parts are worth $$$? I've GAVE more than one shell away lol.
investigate shipping on body parts, then calculate wether it's worth your time.
I've sent plenty of shells to the scrapper. because nobody wanted them, nor were they willing to pay shipping....if the part itself was free.
FB & FC body parts aren't worth shit. In most parts of the country you can buy a complete parts car for tha cost of shipping a single fairly large part from several states away.
Alex-7 01-31-2007, 08:12 AM ruined interior, nothing good in there.
The interior is about the only profitable thing on an s4 FC in my experiance. And that's ONLY of it's black.
Nakka, this isn't worth anyones time.
AmishBoy 01-31-2007, 02:22 PM But if it's a sport model I would put it back together. Does it have a little rubber spoiler?
wotnartd 01-31-2007, 02:38 PM The sport spoiler is worth some coin.
As far as money, if you can get local buyers, you can make more. Lord knows I would love five lugs, but shipping costs too fucking much. Unless you wanted to give the parts away at the cost of shipping, it's hard to find buyers, I think.
AmishBoy 01-31-2007, 04:10 PM Here is a good example.

Yup, not worth the effort to me... i've made much more money without as much effort... thanks to those who replied.
