Yes, it certainly has accumulated a lot of garbage in the engine bay but I assure you it has a fresh coat of paint in there and everything is blingin' beneeth the dust.

Cosby 09-13-2004, 06:53 PM Mark and I welded up the majority of the downpipe and I took the turbo apart and put it back together so the oil output was actually on the bottom pointed toward the oil pan. Yes, it certainly has accumulated a lot of garbage in the engine bay but I assure you it has a fresh coat of paint in there and everything is blingin' beneeth the dust. Cosby 09-13-2004, 06:53 PM Both filters are K&N ForceFed 09-15-2004, 06:42 AM Almost looks like a Tangential cold sided turbo. What kind of turbo is that?? specs?? Cosby 09-15-2004, 09:05 AM It's similar to the sr motorsports stage 3 or whatever but mine came off of an 18 wheeler. Frankin7 09-15-2004, 08:55 PM very nice man, can't wait to hear/see it. rxtasy 09-16-2004, 12:22 AM i take it u finally solved the turbo/intake clearance issue. Cosby 09-16-2004, 01:08 AM I solved that in about half an hour when I ground the crap out of the intake and bashed in the frame rail. Cosby 09-17-2004, 02:15 AM http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/5_18_04_017.sized.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/5_18_04_014.sized.jpg Frankin7 09-21-2004, 07:38 PM that IC looks really small..... is it going to be enough for that turbo? Cosby 09-21-2004, 08:54 PM It is sufficient for the same amount of boost I made on the old turbos, that SMIC has a core about .5"-1" wider than the stock one. The turbo is much more efficient and will spin considerably slower due to the wheel being around double the size. I'll be looking at intake charge temps and comparing this weekend. I figure they're probably significantly lower at the same boost/cfm. The car won't make full power without a new intercooler and fuel. I'd like to buy a jay-tech intake from the guy who owns the nhra fd I posted in the other thread but I don't have the money. I'll just drive on the stock manifold until it stops making power or it blows out the thin portion of the wall. I'll be pressure testing that this weekend as well. I'm currently working on a deal with Griffen Thermal Products concerning my cooling situations. Uglymexican19 09-22-2004, 11:39 AM Blin Blinging Frankin7 09-22-2004, 07:07 PM very nice man, i can't wait to see how it turns out! :) Cosby 09-22-2004, 11:54 PM Coming home friday to finish the exhaust and fix an oil leak at the pan. I'll probably do a little tuning too. Frankin7 09-23-2004, 06:35 PM gratz, i think i have a small oil leak at my oil pan as well i can't seem to find.... i think i'll look into it this weekend. Cosby 09-23-2004, 07:01 PM Almost every engine I've put in has leaked at the oil pan even though I always use new gaskets. They always leak toward the back of the car, there are little passages in the pan that leak. Frankin7 09-23-2004, 07:55 PM i used 2 new gaskets plus toyota gasket sealer and i think its still leaking. Toxico 09-29-2004, 02:21 PM looking good, Hopefuly I'll get my car tuned someday. Cosby 09-29-2004, 02:25 PM dude? STILL not tuned??? dang well lets get together and tune together one weekend. I'm gonna get a break in map put together this weekend and start breaking her in. wish I could find a base map for a half brige with a t88ish turbo. Toxico 09-30-2004, 08:16 PM I've got to figure out what is causing it to smoke before I can go tuneing. I thought I blew out the rear seal on my turbo, but I replace the turbo and its still doing it. With that 3" thick IC it over heated wile me and steve where out tuneing it. So I went back and added another fan. Now I've go the engine temps under controll but its smoking like a mo'fo. I think we over heated a control ring, its the only thing i can figure. Either way, I'm not a happy camper... I have a half tuned base map for my half BP, runing a to4b, 720cc pri and 1600cc sec, its tuned up to 6psi. It would at least get you started. Chris Cosby 10-01-2004, 01:18 PM That would be a good start for the n/a portion at least. Email it to chris@illstreet.com if ya can. Thanks. How many miles do you have on the engine? My engine is smoking a little but its been getting better. I figure its a combination of it being a 0 mile engine and having no tuning at all. Toxico 10-04-2004, 08:58 AM I'll try to e-mail it to you tonight, the map is on the laptop in the car, so I have to get it off there. The engine has at least 1500-2000 miles on it, and its a pretty recent occurance that it started smoking. I think I'm just going to have to tear it down again. I can't think of anything externaly that could be burning oil other than the turbo and I've replace it. Cosby 10-04-2004, 11:26 AM Does the wideband say you're running alright? Cosby 10-05-2004, 12:33 AM Drove it around some. I had to cut the vband on the downpipe and reorient it so it doesnt have an itty bitty gap and leak. I tacked it but it was getting late so I'll finish it this weekend. I also redid the ignition. Changed to a rising edge trigger to an hi-6 bypassing the stock ignitor for the Leading coil which I switch to a 2nd gen coil. The trailing coils are still on the stock ignitor but I'll probably change those too. I was getting ignition breakup before. It runs a lot smoother now. I also washed my wheels for Andy. Oh, and I made a silencer for my muffler. Immensely cuts down on resonance. http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_063.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_064.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_034.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_035.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_036.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_037.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_038.jpg Cosby 10-05-2004, 12:33 AM http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_039.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_040.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_041.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_042.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_043.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_044.jpg http://www.illstreet.com/albums/album01/10_4_04_047.jpg preludedude 10-05-2004, 12:40 AM who is that ugly fucker welding with a helmet on and holding that downpipe? he looks gay as shit.. Mark 95SE Cosby 10-05-2004, 12:41 AM I repainted the helmet black with engine enamel so I'll look good while I burn to death. Cosby 10-05-2004, 02:31 PM Just bought a wastegate outlet flange so I can finalize the downpipe with the dumptube routed back in. I also purchased 50'x2" exhaust wrap. The engine torques like a MOFO and the turbo taps the frame rail so this weekend I'll probably put some urethane mounts on and make an engine torque brace if I can relocate the boost control solenoid. Something like this: Toxico 10-07-2004, 09:25 AM I didn't forget about the map, i just can't find a floppy disk anywhere to get it off this old pc. Cosby 10-07-2004, 09:57 AM lmao, I have that problem now. I remember back in the day I'd have floppies EVERYWHERE. Theyre a real rarity now. Toxico 10-09-2004, 09:03 AM you need some motor mounts like i have :) http://www.devilmotorsports.com/forumpics/puck2_sm.jpg Cosby 10-09-2004, 11:29 AM I'm putting those one the next time I try to fix my oil leak actually :) One mount is still leaking and I have a set of fd mounts laying around. The ghetto ETB is mostly finished. I still need a reverse threaded 3/8" nut and another 8" eye bolt though. For the time being, it is operational though. 91lx 10-10-2004, 12:00 AM I'm putting those one the next time I try to fix my oil leak actually :) One mount is still leaking and I have a set of fd mounts laying around. Frankin7 10-13-2004, 10:43 PM glad to hear the FD is back. bring it by the BMW autox this sunday if you can. i'd like to see it. |
