BATMAN 04-19-2008, 11:23 AM I bought it and on the way back I killed every late model M series BMW and AMG 55 kompressor-equipped cars.
I didn't run into any twinturbo 65 AMG cars.
Nailed a few ferraris and 911TT and some Audi S series.
Mustangs were cake.
I think the car makes more than 515 to the wheels since the dyno was at 95F temps. At night, on the way back it got cold and 3rd gear I was spinning the wheels.
The shear power is soooo addicting. Grew me a set of huge balls. There is literally nothing on the road that I didn't feel confident.
Sad news:
The car came with 3 rocks chips. After I drove it back on I-5 it now has literally a thousand rock chips. So the insurance will have it painted. Hood, fenders, mirrors, and front bumper.
Yesterday, I was driving and heard a thunk in the tranny area. I quickly stepped on the clutch and put the shifter in neutral. It was still in gear. The GTO is at Pearsons GMC/Pontiac in Sunnyvale and they are charging me $180 to look at it.
I do have a GM 7 year 100k miles bumper to bumper extended warranty with no deduct that will be transferred to me.
I'm worried that they will point at the mods, esp the Maggie and say that is the root of all of my ailments.
The seller told me that this is some dealer up in Nor cal that is cool with Maggied GTo since they install them and was wondering if u know who they might be and/or other cool dealerships.
I'll post pics of it after I get it repainted, lowered and wheels.
Cosby 04-19-2008, 02:45 PM I wanted one but I HATE the back of them.
wotnartd 04-19-2008, 10:43 PM Pick one up and do a Holden conversion.
BATMAN 04-20-2008, 12:45 PM The car was tuned right. It's getting more HP than most without proper tuning.
On the way back home I was averaging 28MPG at 75MPH~ in 6th gear.
I wish the front was a little less rounded. The rear tailights will probably be blacked out like a FD.
It's a definate sleeper for those that don't even know what it is....
BATMAN 04-20-2008, 01:13 PM Is it a 6.0?
Of course..... u should know BATMAN by now.

BATMAN 04-20-2008, 01:36 PM the real question is, do you still miss the FD? the original batmobile? ;)
I do miss that car and would still have it if the NSX didn't come along. But I've always wanted a TQ monster v8 since I was young.
Just needed a change before teh FD is worthless.
Selling it with that many miles surprised me, but after a certain amount of miles people want to see a car that was well taken care of.
The GTO is more pratical in seating 4 people. Rear room is very good.
wonner 04-20-2008, 01:45 PM You sold your FD? Where have I been?!
Gabberguy 04-20-2008, 02:17 PM Nice, must be a beastly car to drive.. Looks very American, hehe..
How is it with emission laws? Isn't that very strict in California?
wonner 04-20-2008, 02:29 PM How is it with emission laws? Isn't that very strict in California?
Not when you're rich like BATMAN. ;)
TJGoSurf 04-20-2008, 03:26 PM Seems like if he could afford a 600hp GTO he could afford some grass.
Alex-7 04-21-2008, 02:56 PM how much ching are we talkin here, if you don't mind? :)
Let's guess.
I wanna say low 20's.
BATMAN 04-21-2008, 04:16 PM I bought it for $24k with 22k miles on it.
no accidents - carfaxed clean and I looked everywhere for signs - pretty good at that.
It has $10k in the mods that I was going to put on - most of it in the blower.
Kooks long tube headers with a custom one off exhaust by Mario Andretti.
It has GM's extended 7 years 100k miles warranty.
Locally this car in stock form would be $26k-28k with the warranty.
I figured I did well just like the NSX.
Anyone jealous? anyone?
wotnartd 04-21-2008, 04:30 PM I am jealous.
Now its time for some L92 heads and a 408 shortblock.
VetteGuy 04-21-2008, 04:34 PM I'm jealous. You've got a bigger motor than me, and a supercharger. No fair.
BATMAN 04-21-2008, 04:41 PM The GTO came modded from the owner.
I was going to install some Lingerfelter heads and cams for another 100+RWHP, but that would void the engine warranty.
For now I can always change the pully for more psi. But in reality I am now at the area where I can beat 99% of the cars out there in straight line.
I didn't want a C6 since I don't need yet another 2 seater like the NSX/FD. I wanted something that sat 4 comfy, not like a MKIV. I would have considered the STi, 335 or FX45, but it's not as comfy and too many have them. Besides, I'm not quite ready for a 4-door car.I like cult cars. GTO, FD, NSX.
VetteGuy 04-21-2008, 08:01 PM supercharge your C5 and blow his doors off...sc C5s are beasts
Good idea but I gotta save some money up since I spent so much for the car.
A 600 HP car and still having the warranty is pretty badass. And it'll be extremely rare to run into someone on the street who could take you in a straight line.
Eatmyclutch 04-21-2008, 08:10 PM Nice pickup.
Alex-7 04-22-2008, 12:02 AM I bought it for $24k
I am the winnar!
Eatmyclutch 04-22-2008, 12:04 AM or you can be like my buddy at the gym who is buying a new Lambo...600 hp n/a and they are getting 900 HP with a twin turbo and moderate boost
insane
Fast or fastest?
BATMAN 04-22-2008, 12:03 PM Good idea but I gotta save some money up since I spent so much for the car.

Yes, the bumper-bumper warranty for 7 years or 100k miles helped me pull the trigger.
The mods was the other half.
Indeed at 600HP there are not too many cars that I can't handle in a straight line. Even it's a 3700lbs car with all that power and TQ it moves like it weighs nothing. If anything the weight helps in putting some weight over the rear wheels for straight line traction.
BATMAN 04-22-2008, 03:47 PM The GOAT's CD is very respectable at .31Cd, which is the same as a R1 FD with the spoiler and front air dam. Otherwise the FD is a .29Cd.
The GTO is so underated and a definate cult car like the FD. What killed the sales was it's lackluster look. It's not ugly like a MKIV, but boring looking.
Although I no longer have the 430RWHP FD around, I will say that at freeway speeds the GTO gets it, a good deal since once at 4th gear and above there is traction. 3rd and below and there is no traction.
Are you driving on drag radials? My last car was 2900lbs and 396whp (not crank) with 275 Nittos. Once the tires were warm it had pretty decent traction.
BATMAN 04-22-2008, 04:08 PM Naw, just some shitty first Gen BFG KDW.
BATMAN 04-22-2008, 04:19 PM BTW, can someone make me a "pontiac Nazi" symbol like the acura and Efini one?
BATMAN 04-22-2008, 04:21 PM Which wheel should I get?
They look very similar.

BATMAN 04-22-2008, 04:33 PM Around town MPG is a little better than my FD. Remember, with low end TQ u don't need to hammer on the gas to move the tank.
Alex-7 04-22-2008, 06:10 PM P.O.N.T.I.A.C.C

You'd better get some pretty brakes if you go with either of those.
I'd take the one on the left but don't really like either of them.
dano670 04-24-2008, 06:26 PM So what is the story with the transmission?
BATMAN 04-25-2008, 12:12 PM I'm still waiting for the warranty to transfer to my name. Should be next week.
The new theory is that it might be a clutch or shift fork.
Fucking blows since there are soo many cars that I would like to introduce to the GTO to gain respect and for them to want to buy one.... enhancing the resell value.

Trying to bid on this pos but I cant login without an error. It has the smaller blower, can yank that off and throw it back on ebay, get a 2.8H.
Finally let me bid on it, body kit looks kinda stupid, not gonna pay what hes asking.
nowboostinII 04-25-2008, 03:09 PM get the rim on the right :yesnod:
i just bought a cult car per say, 4 doors and lots of potential.....i wish you would have considered one of these as well, mine is black too :firedevil:

BATMAN 04-25-2008, 03:26 PM hate the way those EVOs look.
And the boy racer..... well that's another story.
$100T2 05-10-2008, 08:26 PM Hey Batty, how is the 6 speed shifter? I looked at a GTO today with the 6 speed, and it seemed like the shifter was really, really loose.
BATMAN 05-12-2008, 04:06 PM The stock GTO has some sorta rubber bushing that the previous owner in my GTO replaced. My shifter just has a Q-ball that resembles the Hurst shifter, but is a full size white ball.
dirtdigler 05-12-2008, 08:20 PM what are these things going for nowadays at the dealer? I gots an R32 and this wasn't even in my consideration list but it's a pretty nice car.
BATMAN 05-22-2008, 06:37 PM My entire drivetrain blew up.. :(

I demand satisfaction!
BATMAN 05-23-2008, 09:52 PM I was having tranny problems since I bought the car, but the dealer said that it was OK to take it back and drive it for a while until the warranty transfer to my name.
I've been gingerly driving it since.
The other day the noise got worse and when I was going 15-20mph I heard the most horrible metal clunk. Never heard such a sound.
The tranny locked up and fucked up the rest of the drivetrain. The Diff was poured out fluid and something hit the exhaust and (what i have just learned today) the floorpan.
The warranty company will cover the drivetrain (whatever that means since it sounds vague) and the diff. No coverage on the floorpan ($500~) and exhaust pipe ( 1" of dent/cut) that I can have welded for little $$$.
I think the service shop is making a seperate claim for the tranny so that it doesn't scare the claim rep into further inspection of the GTO.
I'm told that they just look at the parts, VIN and odometer.
Hopefully the service shop didn't show the Blower.

How bad is the floor pan? Like bad bad or like some rope and a fat dude, bad?
BATMAN 05-25-2008, 07:56 PM Dunno. Might be a simple dent and/or gash that I can take to a muffler shop and have them weld it shut.
I'll know more after the Holiday.
Have them replace your T56 and other parts, then get a built T56 installed and sell the stock one. Im selling my stock trans while it still works and isnt a useless box of broken gears.
BATMAN 05-27-2008, 01:18 PM The tranny should hold up if I don't drop the clutch on drag racing as oppose to get on it from a rolling start right?
wotnartd 05-27-2008, 05:24 PM The tranny should hold up if I don't drop the clutch on drag racing as oppose to get on it from a rolling start right?
Should. That's why people have NA FC transmissions in higher HP apps, they don't dump it. I believe Aaron Cake on 7Club is still using a NA trans, he keeps breaking driveshafts, though.
As for you Batman, I'd say get a more stout transmissions.
nextiger 06-01-2008, 06:44 PM some of my most favorite cars ever made......an absolute beast!
BATMAN 06-04-2008, 11:10 AM Update:
Warranty is covering the driveshaft and diff.
Tranny is being taken apart for inspection.
Terrh 06-04-2008, 12:21 PM didn't even know you owned this.
If you have the extra money laying around, just go buy a built T56 now. Have them put it in instead and keep your new transmission to sell on ebay and recoup 3/4 of the cost.
Agree'd. If they will do it. Id give them a nice tip for saving me the labor.
BATMAN 06-05-2008, 07:28 PM Well, I won't be dumping the clutch or speed shifting.
BATMAN 06-10-2008, 10:28 AM Good news.
The warranty company is getting me a new tranny, diff and driveshaft.
No deductable.
The Tremec T56 tranny has carbon fiber seals and other differences than the GM version.
wotnartd 06-10-2008, 11:12 AM Never speed shift.
BATMAN 06-10-2008, 11:58 AM define that.
Tofuball 06-10-2008, 12:01 PM that ... /ðæt; unstressed ðət/
pronoun and adjective, plural those; adverb; conjunction –pronoun
1. (used to indicate a person, thing, idea, state, event, time, remark, etc., as pointed out or present, mentioned before, supposed to be understood, or by way of emphasis): That is her mother. After that we saw each other.
2. (used to indicate one of two or more persons, things, etc., already mentioned, referring to the one more remote in place, time, or thought; opposed to this): This is my sister and that's my cousin.
3. (used to indicate one of two or more persons, things, etc., already mentioned, implying a contrast or contradistinction; opposed to this): This suit fits better than that.
4. (used as the subject or object of a relative clause, esp. one defining or restricting the antecedent, sometimes replaceable by who, whom, or which): the horse that he bought.
5. (used as the object of a preposition, with the preposition standing at the end of a relative clause): the farm that I spoke of.
6. (used in various special or elliptical constructions): fool that he is.
–adjective
7. (used to indicate a person, place, thing, or degree as indicated, mentioned before, present, or as well-known or characteristic): That woman is her mother. Those little mannerisms of hers make me sick.
8. (used to indicate the more remote in time, place, or thought of two persons, things, etc., already mentioned; opposed to this): This room is his and that one is mine.
9. (used to imply mere contradistinction; opposed to this): not this house, but that one.
–adverb
10. (used with adjectives and adverbs of quantity or extent) to the extent or degree indicated: that much; The fish was that big.
11. to a great extent or degree; very: It's not that important.
12. Dialect. (used to modify an adjective or another adverb) to such an extent: He was that weak he could hardly stand.
–conjunction
13. (used to introduce a subordinate clause as the subject or object of the principal verb or as the necessary complement to a statement made, or a clause expressing cause or reason, purpose or aim, result or consequence, etc.): I'm sure that you'll like it. That he will come is certain. Hold it up so that everyone can see it.
14. (used elliptically to introduce an exclamation expressing desire, a wish, surprise, indignation, or other strong feeling): Oh, that I had never been born!
—Idioms
15. at that,
a. in spite of something; nevertheless: Although perhaps too elaborate, it seemed like a good plan at that.
b. in addition; besides: It was a long wait, and an exasperating one at that.
16. that is, (by way of explanation, clarification, or an example); more accurately: I read the book, that is, I read most of it. Also, that is to say.
17. that's that, Informal. there is no more to be said or done; that is finished: I'm not going, and that's that!
18. that way, Informal. in love or very fond of (usually fol. by about or for): The star and the director are that way. I'm that way about coffee.
19. with that, following that; thereupon: With that, he turned on his heel and fled.
[Origin: bef. 900; ME; OE thæt (pronoun, adj., adv. and conj.), orig., neut. of se the; c. D dat, G das(s), ON that, Gk tó, Skt tad]
—Usage note 4. When that introduces a relative clause, the clause is usually restrictive; that is, essential to the complete meaning of the sentence because it restricts or specifies the noun or pronoun it modifies. In the sentence The keys that I lost last month have been found, it is clear that keys referred to are a particular set. Without the that clause, the sentence The keys have been found would be vague and probably puzzling. That is used to refer to animate and inanimate nouns and thus can substitute in most uses for who(m) and which: Many of the workers that (or who) built the pyramids died while working. The negotiator made an offer that (or which) was very attractive to the union. Experienced writers choose among these forms not only on the basis of grammar and the kind of noun referred to but also on the basis of sound of the sentence and their own personal preference.
The relative pronoun that is sometimes omitted. Its omission as a subject is usually considered nonstandard, but the construction is heard occasionally even from educated speakers: A fellow (that) lives near here takes people rafting. Most often it is as an object that the relative pronoun is omitted. The omission almost always occurs when the dependent clause begins with a personal pronoun or a proper name: The mechanic (that) we take our car to is very competent. The films (that) Chaplin made have become classics. The omission of the relative pronoun as in the two preceding examples is standard in all varieties of speech and writing.
13. The conjunction that, which introduces a noun clause, is, like the relative pronoun that, sometimes omitted, often after verbs of thinking, saying, believing, etc.: She said (that) they would come in separate cars. He dismissed the idea (that) he was being followed. As with the omission of the relative pronoun, the omission of the conjunction almost always occurs when the dependent clause begins with a personal pronoun or with a proper name. This omission of the conjunction that occurs most frequently in informal speech and writing, but it is a stylistic option often chosen in more formal speech and writing.

BATMAN 06-17-2008, 09:47 AM YAY!!!
I just got my GTO back.
The warranty company paid for a new tranny, driveshaft, and differential.
$9000~
I paid for a floorpan bracket that supports the driveshaft. It tweeked. Cost me $560.
Question, do trannies need to break-in?
I want to swap out the factory fluids with Redline oil.
18" Petrol Octane wheels have been ordered. center will be charcoal black powder coat.
Addco sway bars have been ordered too.
Ford 8.8 conversion, call it a day.

BATMAN 06-17-2008, 11:21 AM Part of the criteria for procuring the GTO was that it had some sorta warranty.
In this case it was an extended warranty offered by GM called GMPP or GM's Protection Plan. This covers everything that is not considered a consumable like tires, brake pads/rotors, wiper blades, etc.
It came with the car and for $50 it was transferred. The warranty is a 7/70,000 duration.
Years ago when I procured the FD from a dealer I paid $1200~ for an aftermarket warranty and got $13k+ worth of repairs.
Yes, if you buy a Toyota or honda you would be wasting $$$ on a warranty extension.
The GTO is pretty reliable, but you never know with a modified GTO what might break since it wasn't part of the original design.
BATMAN 07-14-2008, 01:06 PM Update.
I finally replaced the defective Magnavolt device from Magnacharger that increases voltage to the injectors.
Symptoms when it failed was that the GTo bogged or worse, didn't start or died while driving.
Wheels and tires coming soon this week and I might have pics (even though I still need to repaint the front bumper from all that rock chip) to follow.
Steel 07-14-2008, 09:56 PM Rock chip? I'm surprised the rocks don't run away in terror at the sight of your car. You better teach those rocks a thing or two.
BATMAN 10-29-2008, 12:40 PM Just look at the carnage the GTO (Monaro) does to Ferrari, Mosler, BMW, Mustang, Porsche, STi, etc....
Looks like they are street raing on the freeway.

I'm thinking about spending $3k on the same suspension that is that custom made Edelbrock IAS.
