Right now its up 5.58 a share, so if I were to sell now (I'm not, I'm in this for the long run) I'll have made 1,000 bucks in a week.

I'm pretty unlucky too, but it helps that the guy who told me about this stock spent 20 years on the NYSE as a specialist. He's got some of BB&T as well so he knows how they work. I've got the idea in my head that the economy will turn around one day so why not buy now when everything is in the dumpster and wait the 5-10 years for it to swing back up. This stock was trading for 30+ dollars a share a few months ago, then dipped to around 19 and looks like its turning around (hope hope)

Hint hint, Wachovia which is dirt fucking cheap, and WaMu which is dirt fucking cheaper. They are going to go back up, and when they do they will go up hard. Remember when I said to throw money at WaMu? They are trading just shy of $6. Hope you bought some, cause I know I've damn near doubled my money.

Isnt WAMU on the verge of bankrupcy? A few days after you mentioned them I heard something on the radio about them being up shit creek.

A lot of banks are up shit creek right now. The key is finding who has the least amount of exposure to mortgages. WaMu doesn't have much. I don't think they are going to go under, and if they do it doesn't really matter. I made my money, and I got out. I did the same thing when Bear Stearns tanked. Bought a few hundred shares when they were trading at 3$, then they shot up to $10 in a couple of days. You just have to keep focus on the company's strong points.

The Bear deal was an easy one to spot, because after they said they were going to go bankrupt, it was obvious that all of the current stockholders were going to buy as many shares as possible so that they could gain voting rights. By doing this, they could effectively block a vote that sold the company to JP Morgain for $5 a share, which would cause all the shareholders to completely lose their asses. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter, because it still happened and drove the price up.
