A) build your own.
B) Import a motor you can definitely find. either the STi Impreza, or the Twin Turbo Legacy motor (also STi).

Impreza75 01-08-2002, 12:32 PM Ok I got 2 more today so I'm gonna try to put a stop to it. Stop emailing me asking me where you can find a friggin 22B motor. The answer will always be the same, YOU WONT FIND ONE, PERIOD. There were only 399 of the things made, yes they were bad ass, yes it waxed a Z06 corvette on the nurburgring, yes they can outhandle a 911 Turbo. But your not gonna find a motor from one. If you want one THAT bad, pick up the newest Dupont registry, there is one for sale for 60K, which is strange cause thats 12K more than it was new, oh well. If you want a bad Subaru motor either A) build your own. B) Import a motor you can definitely find. either the STi Impreza, or the Twin Turbo Legacy motor (also STi). 01-08-2002, 12:42 PM WORD! 01-08-2002, 12:43 PM btw, that was just an attempt to get closer to 100 posts...this was too <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> Impreza75 01-08-2002, 05:04 PM Glad to know my thread can help you get that much closer to getting over 100 and getting off that Bike LOL. Ben Howard 01-08-2002, 10:06 PM I wouldnt mind getting off the bike myself. But yea...Will is right. You guys wont find one. But from being from the Honda world i am doing research on how to build a kinda hybrid motor setup. It consist of using 2 or 3 different blocks. I have heard Will talk about it b4 and i have been reading a little info on it. You guys who want the 22B motor would be better off going this route!!! Impreza75 01-08-2002, 10:34 PM What Ben is talking about is the Subaru equivelent to the CRV/VTEC motor for hondas. What you need to do is basically get the block from the Impreza L (sold here in the states) which is 2.2 liters (exact same block as the 22B). Then find yourself an STi head (these things flow better than a chevy LS1 motor's), Dale Teague can find you one probably. Get some good aftermarket pistons with nice 8.4:1 compression and some turbo cams from some place like Cobb Tuning. Get a beefed up tranny from MRT, STi or WRX axles and rear diff, and then assemble your own turbo kit. Your end product will be a 400-500HP AWD monster in the body of a harmless looking Impreza L. Total cost including car, about 13K unless you can do the work yourself, then chop off about 4 grand. Expensive? yes. fast? OH YES, thats an easy 10 second car. Thats one rout to go, or you can build that 2.5 liter SOHC motor and get something even stronger. Ben Howard 01-09-2002, 06:17 PM Damn Will you make it so hard for me to stay with the Honda... Impreza75 01-10-2002, 12:18 AM Turn to the dark side, Ben...............mwahahahahahahahahahahahaha |
