vrooom305 03-10-2006, 05:02 PM So I've noticed that most external firewire hard drives have two firewire ports, while usb hard drives have only one port. I've never been able to try this but can the external hard drives firewire ports be used at the same time with two cables connected to the same or two cables connected to two different computers? SpartanTS 03-11-2006, 08:27 AM I've never tried this with firewire, but I have with an external network/usb drive and it didn't work. Even if it's firewire 400/800, it probably won't allow you to use both at the same time. Supper 03-11-2006, 09:30 AM the main function of having two firewire ports on an External HD is you can daisy chain them together. When I still had functioning power cords for all of my external drives, I had 4 of them connected to a single FW port on my desktop. But since then I have burned out all but one of the power supplies :( dunno about the two cables to different computers, never tried it, but i would think it should work. vrooom305 03-15-2006, 03:32 PM the main function of having two firewire ports on an External HD is you can daisy chain them together. that's fuck'n brilliant! |
