6. Have a good time!
The point of this forum is for all of us, as members of a community, to learn about what else is in our lives than escorts. The key is having fun. Hopefully by following the five above guidelines we can make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

If your that in love with a ford escort I dont think there's alot to look forward to in life...

we need to send them that vid of the two homos in the gold ford escort with switches....someone's got to know the one I am talking about, when they roll up on the brothers blasting the gay-ass music

There is only one reason why they have rules like this--imagine how many people would go in there otherwise, and blast the shit out of these idiots for having a forum dedicated to the ford asscort....the ZX-2 is the only car I know of off hand that should have come from the factory with the rainbow sticker as standard equipment.

Escort GT, thats like dressing a pig in a wedding dress. At the end of the day, its still a pig.

I never understood why carmakers embarass themselves like that---taking the base model econobox and making a "GT" version. I remember when the Cavalier had a "Rally Sport" model...you could put frosting on a jock strap, that dont make it a cupcake.

And rotary engines are pointless, yes, we know.

Except the 2nd Generation GTs or Tracer LTSs have a Mazda BP I4, which is a 1.8L DOHC engine putting out 127 HP versus the 1.9L SOHC's 88 HP. The motor was used in Miatas, early Protege LXs, and a turbocharged version made its way into the AWD Mazda 323 GTX. These motors are also better for turbocharging and the cars are more likely to come with an manual transmission less prone to failure.

And rotary engines are pointless, yes, we know.

Considering the fact that I am a 7 owner, you clearly have no clue. But thats ok, you just keep on keeping on....you and your big bad dreams of an Escort GT.

Except the 2nd Generation GTs or Tracer LTSs have a Mazda BP I4, which is a 1.8L DOHC engine putting out 127 HP versus the 1.9L SOHC's 88 HP.

Is there a point anywhere in our future?? you say "127 hp" like we should all bow down and be in awe or something. Meanwhile, my daily driver has more than twice that horsepower, stock. And my favorite toy currently puts down over 300 at the rear wheels, soon to be in the 400 hp neighborhood. Am I supposed to be impressed by a four-banger that puts out 127 hp?

If you think so, then you should get used to disappointment.

The motor was used in Miatas

What made the miata good was its light weight and handling, plus the whole roadster concept. What makes the Escort GT a joke is that it lacks any real power, handles like a brick, and says "GT" on the back nonetheless. It's everything that a GT isnt, and nothing that a GT is supposed to be. PLEASE tell me youre not comparing an econobox "GT" to a purpose-built roadster.

early Protege LXs

Which didnt have the best reputation anyways. Thats why the Protege was scrapped and the Mazda 3 put in its place.

and a turbocharged version made its way into the AWD Mazda 323 GTX.

Well, isnt that completely different?? AWD, plus completely different suspension, plus a turbocharged four....as opposed to 30 more horses and a GT badge?? Youre talking apples and assholes here. Not even close. wow, they retuned the suspension a bit, but it is still essentially the exact same setup as the base model econobox escort had.

wow, the "escort GT".....let's have a look at this highly desirable performance machine:

http://escortfocus.com/html/history.html

The 1991 Escort GT was also revitalized. Leading the list of improvements was the addition of the Mazda 1.8L Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) engine making 127hp. This engine, when mated to a 5 speed manual, offered swift acceleration that has not been seen since the Turbo GT of 1984. Also, a sport tuned suspension was added along with 4 wheel disc brakes. Now the GT was able to handle and stop competently as well as be a street sleeper. 0-60 times for this GT with a 5 speed were about 8.3 seconds. This was the first model year the Escort GT was really taken as a serious performance subcompact.

WOW....that really makes it worth owning! Man, who wouldnt be laughed-at for such break-neck numbers?

Thats about the fastest that this car ever got. No powertrain changes came after that, really, except for going to platinum-tipped spark plugs in 1993. So, what good is boasting about all that "127 hp" when the car is slow as hell? Did someone lie to you and tell you that 127 horses was a lot?

These motors are also better for turbocharging and the cars are more likely to come with an manual transmission less prone to failure.

man....

let's clarify this for you, so that there is no misunderstanding. If you turbo that car, you will have a faster Escort. Thats it. It will still handle like shit. So then, you would have to redo the suspension, beef it up. How much does it cost today to turbo a NA car? $3000? $4000?? Then, modify the suspension...how much more? OK, now you need to swap out the exhaust, because you dont want a retrictive factory exhaust on a turbo engine. There goes another several hundred bucks. how about engine management?? By the time youre finished, what would you have spent? $5K, maybe more? Even if you spent a grand total of $3K on this project, you would still end up with a FORD ESCORT. So, you may chop a second off the 0-60 time. you would still have a slow-ass escort. And to get there you need to spend what--twice, three times what the car is actually worth??

Like I said before, you can put a pig in a wedding dress, at the end of the day you still have a pig. It wont magically become a hot blonde. Speaking of rotaries, the 1.3L rotary has more power in its stock NA form than this. And the NA FC is slow. Maybe you can put a really big wing on the back of your Escort, you know, to help the traction....

Why do you always feel the need to go so over the top?

For the record, I never said I was going to turbo it.

I said it would have been nice, because it has more pep. Kind of like how my FC was faster than my FB. They aren't breaking my neck. It's a fucking daily driver.

It's not like I'm racing an Escort with my family in it. I'm not racing it, period.

1--why am I so over the top??

"in an ideal world I would have an Escort GT....."

In an ideal world, you could have had a real car, chief. Not some wannabe imitation sporty car....but a real car. Damn, there are plenty of newer 4-cylinder cars out there that offer more sportiness while still getting decent mileage. In an ideal world, the Escort GT is the best you can come up with?? You get what you deserve when that faggotry is your contribution to this forum.

2--for the record I never said you were going to turbo it. I said it would be a total waste of time and money. You could have been smart, realized that my statement was correct, and left it at that, couldnt you? But instead, here you are replying like your stated position holds any merit whatsoever. So, it would have "had more pep". So would anything else with a turbo put on it. Or, for the cost of turboing that thing you could have simply gone out and gotten a better car. Some cars were never meant to have a turbo. Some cars would just be a waste of time and $$$ to put a turbo on them. This is one of those cars. Perhaps you can go on ebay and buy one of those electric turbos and let us know how it does for ya....:bigthumb:

3--if youre not racing it period, why all the talk about how great the GT was because of the 127 horsepower? Thats your talking right there, my friend. Why even mention the hp like it was some great number? Do you really think that 127 horses from a 4-banger is something amazing, or "ideal"?? Ideal would be getting rid of that shitbox and getting a real car.

4--feel free to pray for my demise, look how well that worked out for the last fucker that tried it. Perhaps you need a different strategy for your life, or at the very least, you need to be taught the definition of "ideal"....:blah:

sure herschel, but that car has actually had the work done to it that way. They didnt just slap a turbo on a shitbox. It's AWD, with the proper suspension, and the drivetrain to handle that power. It's a complete package, and it comes that way from the factory. You can take basically ANY car and make it a winner if you do that work to it, as that car has been built. The work is the issue. But with a lot of cars, there comes a point where youre just wasting time and money. The "Escort GT" is one of those cars. Front drive, short wheelbase, no power, suspension not set up for anything resembling sport driving....but its got a massive(for its day) spoiler on the back!!

Then again, a supercharged 3.8 that puts down 310 at the wheels is a far cry from a 190 hp four-banger in an overweight car. For some reason, I figured that you were smart enough to know the difference.

Well, you are WRONG. Thanks for playing.

I'd have thought anyone with the skills to mod a Tbird would have the aptitude to note that since it's the wheels that spin the dyno rollers, it's power at the wheels that the dyno measures.

I guess not.

They don't have a magical logarithm that measures drive train loss for every car that rolls on them.

HAVE you ever dyno'd that pile? Or are you still "trying to find" those charts YZF asked to see?

Well, you are WRONG. Thanks for playing.

whadaya want, a fucking cookie?? didnt I already say I was wrong on this a few posts up? wow, a winnar is joo....now youre gonna be a retard too?

I'd have thought anyone with the skills to mod a Tbird would have the aptitude to note that since it's the wheels that spin the dyno rollers, it's power at the wheels that the dyno measures.

Considering the fact that the mods done since I got it only involved unbolting a supercharger and replacing it with another one, which was a direct bolt-on replacement, I guess you simply dont know what the fuck youre talking about. Since when does someone need to know all about dyno machines to use a fucking ratchet and sockets??

And yes, it has been dynoed. That doesnt mean I know everything about how the equipment works. I work in the petrochemical industry, and while I can find my way around a toolbox enough, that doesnt mean that I am by default a master at knowing all about the dyno machine. When it was done, the concern was more about making sure the tune was good and that it wouldnt detonate. Is it the fastest it could be? Who knows? At the same time, who cares? It runs without detonation, and it doesnt melt-down for lack of fuel. I dont need to be an expert there. And I already plainly admitted that I am not one. so, your point was......what, exactly?

Alex-7
03-12-2008, 10:37 PM
Funny that you had to through out "thanks for playing" in the same post where you were admiting you were wrong isn't it?

Is that an internet combat reflex?

I don't believe you've ever dyno'd your Tbird, Because:

1. You've posted several different claimed HP's

2. You're "still looking" for your charts.

3. You're claimed HP is total bullshit when compaired to your mods list of "an upgraded supercharger and a pulley"

4. You have no idea how a dyno works and never bothered to ask when you where paying to have it done.

You're a backpeddling internet liar.

skydivr7673
03-12-2008, 10:49 PM
1--you also forgot the fact that most of the mods done to my car were done by the previous owner. Which wouldnt put me anywhere near doing them.

2--there have been exactly two figures posted. First, I said way back when that the car was running 308 hp. This would be the around 310 that I talked about. The second was the 341 hp. "several" ?? Nope. And since it was dynoed before I bought it, and dynoed after the new SC, thats all the numbers there are. Now youre just full of shit for no real reason.

3--when most of the mods were done before I bought it, and all I had to do was swap out the sc and pulley, no, there is no bullshit there. See the post in the other thread about the MPIII that I am running. Thanks for playing.

4--no, I dont know exactly how a dyno works. If I knew all that shit, why would I pay someone else to do it for me? I understand the basic concept that the dyno measures horsepower. I dont know precisely how it does it, nor do I give a shit. I didnt pay someone to give me technical education on what his machine does....I paid him to tell me what the engine's doing. I am not the kind of guy that wants to know everything about anything I pay someone else to do--if I am paying them, thats what I want--for them to do it. Thats all.
