Just bought my first hand gun and i am getting ready to get my CCW towards the end of the month. Just wondering what everyone thinks of the gun and if anyone has any advice about getting the CCW.

That's a good CCW weapon. As far as the permit it's easy.

I wear alot of blue jeans and black shirts so its easy to hide. Hell i have been leaving it exposed on my hip holster all week and no one has really noticed me wearing it at work. My room mates saw it the first day but no one else really noticed. By the way i do know its a felony to conceal the weapon without a CCW that is why i leave it exposed everywhere i go except for my work.

carying without a permit is just asking for trouble, and IMO rather stupid. Especially if you are carying loaded.

The point of CCW isn't to see "who will notice" or to prove how sneaky you are or whatever. The point of CCW is for nobody to know you have a firearm on your person ready to be used for personal protection.

I have a G17, nice firearms, enjoy yours.

Ok maybe you misread what i was trying to say. The gun is registered and completely legal for me to carry right now with the exception have having it concealed. I dont ever have it concealed on me unless i am in the Bail Bonds office because there are some shady people. The gun is sitting on my hip exposed any other time if i have it on me. Its there to be notived when i am having problems repossessing as a way of politely saying play nice.

in bounty hunting, you will need to think of your situation each time you are going to apprehend someone, because the situation changes each time. Some times, it is good to have your sidearm in plain view, because it lets the person know that you are ready for trouble. History proves that the presence of a firearm all by itself can often keep a situation from getting ugly.

BUT--other times, you will not want to have that sitting on your hip. I used to work with a guy that spent years chasing bail jumpers and refused to ever carry a gun simply because he did not want to be seen in that manner. You must evaluate each scenario. A lot will depend on the skip--if the guy has a violent criminal history, then put it on your hip. In cases where the person is known to be violent, I am usually already drawn when we do an entry anyways.

Unfortunately here in vegas it seems that the only ones that dont go to their damn court date is the ones with drug/gun charges. The violent ones go to court because they know they have a good lawyer that will get all the charges dropped. But i still have atleast 2 months to go before i go on any real bounty hunts as i am not licensed to do so just yet.

the best piece of advice I could give you right now is this--NEVER, EVER treat a principal with disrespect. you never know when you may have to go after the same guy again, and if you treat him like shit the first time around he will be far more inclined to put up a fight the next time. Most of them know they are scum--it will get you nowhere if you tell them that.

other than that, always watch your back and cover your team. Also, dont underestimate drug offenders--much of the drug world is a place where guns are damn near mandatory. I have seen drugged up criminals try everything imaginable to get away before....one bust I remember was almost funny--one of my partners got jumped in the kitchen of this house, and the scene was straight out of hollywood. I heard him shouting and went to back him up, only to find some dude completely naked, holding my buddy's head in the freezer and slamming the freezer door on it. you never know what you will see when that door opens, so be careful and be ready for anything

Wish I could open carry here.

Its saved me some trouble 2 times this weekend. Knocking on doors for repo's and the people threatened to go get their guns and escort me off their property(not legal). Then they look down and see whats on my hip. They both changed their minds about turning their backs on me to do anything... lol
