I agree that a lot of people call on God to cope with life--what better way to try to deal with having problems in life than to have hope that something better is out there? Personally, I see two schools of thought on this--there are those that call on God to come to them in their lives, and then there are those who go to God in their lives. Waiting for God to come to your life is like waiting at home for a supermodel to knock on your door and ask you out--it doesnt work very well. I never understood people that look to God, but wait for Him to come to them. If God is worth looking to, shouldnt He be worth going to?

I cant pretend to know, but I do know that things happen in a time frame that we do not invent. I met my wife after I had spent plenty of time doing all the crazy things I did when I was younger--the partying, skydiving, playing in bands, all the really crazy things that dont really fit in well to a family atmosphere....at the same time, I needed to do a lot of growing up and I wondered why I couldnt find that one person that I hoped was out there. She came along in my life after I did the growing up I needed to, so that I could be the guy she deserved. If we had met sooner in life, I dont know if it would have worked. This is similar in a lot of ways--to be healed means different things to different people. For example, the resident psychopath mini-marky insists that cancer makes someone sick, but in reality, cancer taught me more than it took away. It depends on the point of view. sometimes something bad needs to happen to get you to realize what is really important. I suspect that marky never learned this lesson--thats why he posts more than the next four people in line combined.

As for asking God to help, He already has. That's the beauty of blessings--they usually come in a form you dont expect. I dont doubt for a second that God has provided what I need.
