LAPD.

This was news to me:

Any modified exhaust must be certified not to be 85 db or less.

Also, modified exhaust are not only a fix-it ticket, but also a moving violation, meaning that it's a point on the driving record.

As usual, I did the "Johny-white-guy" secret handshake, smiled, and did a mini-golf swing inhe car............. and was let loose without a ticket.

Actually it's 95dB and you can get tested if your cited. And..."The law also allows courts to dismiss citations for exhaust systems that have been tested and for which a certificate of compliance has been issued."

I heard from a little birdie you were asked about your tinted windows and no front plate:

"Sir, you do know that your windows and lack of a front plate are both illegal, correct?"

"Yes."

"Our records indicate that you were pulled over previously and cited for both these things, and neither one has changed."

"Yes, and neither one will."

"Oh, OK."

Gotta learn that handshake...

It does show up on your MVR, but it is a non-chargeable violation. A point does not go on your record.

I've seen at least 10 of those when researching claimant driving records.
