<font color='#000000'>&gt; Dude gets an ingrown hair. It gets infected, now he has a boil. Ought

&gt; to go to the doc and get it lanced but he doesn't.

&gt; Weeks pass. The boil grows, eroding downward toward his skull. Ought to go

&gt; to the hospital in a jiffy but he doesn't.

&gt; Weeks pass. The infection reaches his skull. Bone, once infected, presents&gt;

&gt; little barrier to the spread of infection to contiguous bone and so it

&gt; spreads within his skull. Ought to spend a good long time in the hospital

&gt; but he doesn't. The bone dies and begins to erode. Weeks pass. At some

&gt; point

&gt; the smell attracts flies which begin to lay eggs in his festering wound

&gt; and

&gt; maggots take hold. Weeks pass. The infection breaches the inner layer of

&gt; his

&gt; skull and reaches the meninges. Weeks pass. Though their tensile strength

&gt; is

&gt; impressive the meninges are quite thin and the infection breaches them.

&gt; Now,

&gt; infection and

&gt; maggots set to work on his brain. Your brain just isn't supposed to be on

&gt; your outside and presents almost no barrier to anything when exposed.

&gt; Infection and maggots get to work on his brain. This makes him feel a

&gt; little

&gt; wobbly on his feet and so, what do you know, he decides to see the doctor.

&gt;

&gt; He walks in to the Stanford ER, where these photos were taken, just as

&gt; you

&gt;

&gt; see him here.

Guess there is nothing wrong with posting a link to the pics.

<font color='#000000'>&quot;Here are some pictures from my police station in XXX. The pictures are of a 90ish old male that was having a bath. He had something that looked like an oversized element from a kettle to help with keeping the water hot. Unfortunately he died and was in the bath for over 2 weeks with the water almost boiling. What you see on the left side of the lower picture are his legs. When the guys took hold of his legs to try and get some of him out of the bath all they got was a bone as it simply slid out of the flesh. The following day the cleaners came in and scooped up almost 50kg of goop that made up his body. If you look closely at the picture you can just make out the shape of a body. Obviously the smell was... um... interesting.&quot;

People run animals down every day. Maybe on accident. *However, people hunt, and on occasion, god forbid, kill an animal. <img src="http://www.illstreet.com/images/iB_html/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

its not not every day though some old man unintentionaly cooks him self in the bath tub. Or some one grows maggots in their brain. Thats a step above a dead turkey or mutalated possum.

When people build web sites for crap like that (i.e. comsumption junction, rotten.com, stile project ect.) there is some thing really messed up with them. even more, people look at this trash and gawk over it and think its some thing to spread around and some times even think its funny. * I, personaly hate crap like that, that ends up spread all over the internet. I think its moraly wrong, and evil for people to build sites like that. *Therefor, i chose not to ever go to sites like that, thus trying to elimate myself from exposure to this trash. *Then some one posts it on a message board. * So now we have messed up person #1 that builds a garbage infested evil web site. then countless messed up people look at it and feel they should spread it around to effect normal people. <img src="http://www.illstreet.com/images/iB_html/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':O'> &nbsp;

<font color='#333399'>Here's my take on this &quot;looking at this stuff is evil and wrong, etc.&quot;

I do think that people that go out looking for this type of thing at rotten.com, etc might be a little off in the head, but this type of thing (death and dismemberment) happens. *It's obviously not something that's nice to look at, but it's part of life. *There's all kind of sick crap that happens to people... just because it's abnormal and gross does that mean we shouldn't look? *

Should we not look at pictures of (or even actual living) people w/ gross bodily disfigurations? *What does being dead or near death have to do with viewing images like this? *Just my opinion.. <img src="http://www.illstreet.com/images/iB_html/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

A disturbing image of an autopsy or a crime scene is not an evil image in my opinion. *It's a factual one. *It shows how things are or how they were. *

Again, I don't think the images are pretty, but death and sh*t are part of life.</font>

<font color='#000000'>In the &quot;olden days,&quot; people relied on natural substances — such as mud, insects, and herbs — to help people heal. Many of these folk remedies are now resurfacing. How do remedies like these work?
Imagine going to a doctor for a leg wound that won't heal. Instead of prescribing antibiotics, the doctor suggests a treatment of maggots, which are fly larvae. Sounds gross, right? You might wonder why anyone would even consider such a treatment.

Well, disgusting as it sounds, scientific research has shown that in some cases, maggots may heal a wound more quickly and efficiently than modern medicine.

People living in ancient times would say that science has finally caught up with what they already knew. Centuries ago, soldiers whose wounds became infected with maggots did better than non-infected soldiers. It turns out that the maggots (the wingless, wormlike form in which insects hatch from eggs) were eating dead tissue and killing bacteria, making the wounds healthy and allowing them to heal more quickly.

Rabbits are prone to skin infections that can be difficult to control. Their skin is very thin and prone to trauma. They harbor a bacteria called Pasteurella than can complicate any infection they pick up. This page shows the case of a rabbit named Roger that has a serious skin infection due to a maggot infestation. You won't have to look at any maggots, but you will see a serious skin infection in the pictures that follow.

Maggots are the larvae of flies that hatch when flies lay eggs on an open wound. In the warmer climates, especially in the summer, we see this condition. It occurs when rabbits soil their fur, sometimes from diarrhea, and set up a moist environment that attracts flies.

You can visualize the Y shaped staples that are holding the skin together at the top. They are not holding at the bottom. The white material at the bottom where the incision is open is the tenacious pus that rabbits get when there is an infection.

http://www.lbah.com/Images/Rabbit/Maggots/maggot.jpg

This is the wound immediately after we removed the staples and removed the dead tissue along with infection. It is impossible to remove all the infection that is present due to the tenacious nature of rabbit pus.

http://www.lbah.com/Images/Rabbit/Maggots/debride.jpg

The wound is thoroughly covered with this collagen and allowed to stay on for several days initially. It was changed several times over the several weeks of therapy that was used in this case

<font color='#F52887'>No, rotten.com may be considered trashy because if you read their links to the pictures and their comments, they make jokes about the situations. I never said that the website was not sick...I'm defending this thread saying that it's not a trashy thing to post. *And just because people view rotten.com doesn't make them trashy, unless they laugh at it, print it out, keep a collection of nasty things, etc. Simply posting a picture does not mean that you are a sick/twisted/trashy person. *And like Luis said, it specifically says &quot;wouldn't open this around touchy people.&quot; *As soon as I saw that, I figured it was something disgusting, but I'm not touchy, and as a result I didn't complain about the thread. *Obviously if you are complaining about this thread being trashy, then you are a &quot;touchy&quot; person and shouldn't have clicked it in the first place. *And yes, I saw the turkey parts under your car in the parking lot at SHS.</font>

This is an awesome thread, only because it doesn't parse the HTML properly.

Besides, bumping old threads make it look like your site has more traffic :P
