What's the point? The traditional Christian Lucifer does not have much in the way of a foundation in the Hebrew Bible and is not actually present in the Book of Job.

Ark2 11-03-2007, 04:29 PM We've probably all heard/read the story of Job so most would probably agree that Job's test begins with an disagreement between God and Satan. However, in the original Hebrew, Satan is actually called "ha satan" which literally means "the accuser" or "the adversary". If we look at this character's contribution throughout the story, he doesn't embody the Satan that we know in the New Testament. Look at his actions and he doesn't rebel against God but rather dutifully responds to Him so that ultimately God's message can be delivered: Only God can know why bad things happen to good people. Ark2 11-03-2007, 06:37 PM Is the girl in your avatar black or latin? I offer something to ponder, perhaps question the orgin of Lucifer but I think that you've skipped too many steps in your conclusion. Let's get back to Satan and go from there. Herschel 11-03-2007, 07:29 PM No. Ark2 11-04-2007, 12:52 PM No. You must be lost, the boobs are 4 sections up Herschel 11-04-2007, 02:48 PM Thanks for your concern, but I have no interest in that section.......I know exactly where I'm posting. Ark2 11-04-2007, 04:55 PM Very well, care to elaborate on your "no"? You may have a point in revelation, i.e. the degree of total knowledge given about, but go back to Genesis and consider what the enormity of his deception and his own sin. He was out to destroy what God created and called "very Good". Consider too what you can know about the trinity in the OT, very little is revealed but that doesn't in any way take away from the powerful concept. bx7 11-05-2007, 06:38 AM I honestly don't see the meaning for this section anymore. It was more interesting with YZF around. The mods should find him, apologize and invite him back. $100T2 11-05-2007, 08:57 PM It was more interesting with YZF around. Vert8813B 11-06-2007, 08:13 AM We should develop a Mark Strong program...and use the program to create a new Mark Strong...ala Bionic Mexican. bx7 11-06-2007, 10:34 AM Apologize for what, precisely? I know he insulted you, and there's no justification for it, but you should have been able to see past his offence to the frustration he had for being singled out. Instead you treated too harshly with the perma ban. I understand what you did, but I expect more from you, you're a moderator for crying-out-loud. Besides, we all know who the real parasite was and since Mark has been gone, it's been fairly quiet. Ark2 11-06-2007, 12:45 PM Whoa! Where does it say that the serpent is actually Satan? If Yzf says that he's done with this forum and then comes back anyway, then he reneges on his word. If he stays true to his word then there's no reason to perma ban him. Either way banning him makes no sense especially when you consider that he had done far worse in the past. Besides, we all know who the real parasite was and since Mark has been gone, it's been fairly quiet. You keep talking like this and we'll be knee deep in looney tunes soon. bx7 11-06-2007, 02:14 PM Where does it say that the serpent is actually Satan? I suspect there may be an NT note about this. lowb00st 11-06-2007, 02:30 PM http://www.holybible.com/search/searchemall.php?form=kjv&SearchPhrase=serpent&Book=&Chapter=&Verse=&submit=Search+KJV This is a symbolic flood, for it is cast out of the mouth of the symbolic serpent. The devil-energized "beast" (Revelation 13:4), having disrupted the temple worship in Jerusalem by placing his own image there to be worshipped (Revelation 13:15; Matthew 24:15), then seeking to execute all who refuse to do so, will be enraged at the Jews in particular, and will send a "flood" after them. This will probably be a flood of military might--armies, artillery, airplanes--but God will destroy them all, just as He did long ago with Pharaoh's hosts (Psalm 124:1-6; Isaiah 59:19). Ark2 11-06-2007, 02:54 PM I suspect there may be an NT note about this. I'd be interested in reading it if you could point me in the right direction? bx7 11-07-2007, 06:24 AM Where does it say that the serpent is actually Satan? Here's a direct link from Revelation: Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. There is an equivalence stated here between the dragon, the old serpent, the Devil and Satan. What's his described attribute? He deceives the whole world. What did the "old serpent" do in the garden? He deceived Eve. This is the same character. There's a lot to know about Satan. You can do a word search at blueletterbible.com with Satan, Devil, Serpent, Lucifer and learn a good bit in a short time. $100T2 11-08-2007, 02:07 PM I know he insulted you, and there's no justification for it, but you should have been able to see past his offence to the frustration he had for being singled out. Instead you treated too harshly with the perma ban. I understand what you did, but I expect more from you, you're a moderator for crying-out-loud. Besides, we all know who the real parasite was and since Mark has been gone, it's been fairly quiet. Now here's where you are mistaken. Yes, Mark insulted me. He insulted me multiple times. And his ban was NOT related. The reason why I perma-banned him was because he told me to "shove the forum up my ass", and how he "doesn't need this fucking forum." I don't give two fucking shits about him (or any other forum member) insulting me, it's just the internet. What I do have a problem with is him shitting all over the forum, all over other members, then proclaiming how he just doesn't need this place. So, I banned him. For a week. I gave him specific instructions that if he started the multiple account bullshit like he used to pull at the RX7Club, it would be permanent. He did it, so it's permanent. As for him being singled out, yeah, maybe he was. Why? Because most everyone else here follows the exceptionally limited rules. There are 6 people here with mod powers, and I'm probably the most active using them. For the most part, we clean up spam. This forum generally runs itself because the number of users is so limited. If there are flame wars, drama, bullshit, yeah, we can step in, but most of you guys know each other and don't take anything too personally. Mark's ravings were getting extremely nasty, and after months (seriously, months) of placating him via e-mail, I got sick of it. Now that he's gone, yeah, the forum isn't as active. But, when all the activity here was acting like assholes to each other, I don't see the point of that. I'd like to see the forum head in a different direction: I'd like to see intelligent discussion, with people's points of view actually respected rather than shit on, and you guys being able to enjoy this place enough to recommend other people to come. bx7 11-09-2007, 06:25 AM Now here's where you are mistaken. Yes, Mark insulted me. He insulted me multiple times. Do what you gotta do. I have to say that the funniest thing I ever saw in this forum was the elvis wigged photoshop of him standing next to his bike. mass extinction 11-26-2007, 01:06 PM What's the point? The traditional Christian Lucifer does not have much in the way of a foundation in the Hebrew Bible and is not actually present in the Book of Job. really? you may want to read again Genesis 3, I Chronicles 21, and Zechariah 3 Satan hasn't changed since the Fall: indeed, has God said? Ark2 11-26-2007, 01:50 PM Wow, I completely forgot about this thread. I'll look into some of the links and suggested readings when I get a chance. |
