a 11 yr old boy was driving when he no right to be, risking his life and everyone else on the road...and you concerned with the judges rulings? you have some nerve...

that boy deserves to be in jail with all the other useless citizens we have living here...the judge should have done much worse..

some kid drove his moms sedan to the video store at night when he got bored and he drove back and tried to put it back in the driveway but he crashed.

I think you've got a slight reading problem....

He was saying it's ridiculous what sentence the judge gave to him, implying that he should have received a worse or different punishment.

it was probably just a slap on the wrist because nothing actually happened.

you can't punish someone for what they might have done.

Manntis

no, but you can adequately punish them for what they did do.

If someone ran into a crowded shopping mall and sprayed the place with bullets, should they get a slap on the wrist if no one actually gets shot?

thats a policy consideration that is not up to you or me. :)

for instance, in your example you could not charge the person with murder or manslaughter if nobody actually was actually killed.

Right, but that's different because the kid was like 3 or 4 and that's just fucking awesome. He didn't hit anything until he got back into the parking lot and tried to park the car, but since he couldn't hit the brakes he couldn't get it stopped.

Fucking spoiled brat.

Intent.

That's all you need. When you advance more in the world of law school and come a few steps closer to being a scumbag dirt merchant lawyer, you'll know.

I'll still think you're an alright guy though.

For the sake of clarity, that's not all you need. You need a dead victim to charge someone with murder or manslaughter. Odds are, even if no one is killed in Manntis's example, you wouldn't secure an attempted murder charge. And the "intent" for manslaughter is significantly different from murder.

I don't know anything about British law but I would imagine that the judge's ruling would be considered illegal here since the kid neither has a license nor the right to drive. That is like entering into a contract to murder someone. You can't have a 'contract' for something illegal and essentially judicial sanctions are the same with the exception that compensatory measures are taken in order to reward society.

Who knows, maybe in Britian, you need a license for a "Mini motor bike" and now that's suspended... a DMV could likely keep track of the judgement, and when the kid applies for a license, he'll find the points on it and have to pay more. If I get a ticket for which demerits apply, cancelling my license doesn't make them go away. Next time I apply or renew my license, the demerits will still be there

Maybe he was driving very safely and correctly and the only reason he got pulled over was because he was so short. I mean if he was driving recklessly I'm sure he would have gone to Juvi..

That's just another P.o.V.
