Plain and simply put every single one of us is going to HELL, in the bible (god knows which passage) it states, that Jesus Christ was in HELL for 3 days befor his resurection, no not the hell YZF keeps wishing would swallow us up, but Hell as in GRAVE.

you know if you were trying to show me up you should have actually quoted the part where Jesus died and then was resurected, here i'll help you out at a decent hour over here i will get that passage and post it.

I looked up the subject of hell and found what I wanted. I also looked it up in my "King James Version" of the Bible that I got for my 10th birthday and sure enough it says in prophecy, talking about Jesus at Psalm16:10 "For thou will not leave my soul in hell; neither will thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption" Centuries later the apostle Peter showed, at Acts 2:31 that Psalm 16:10 had its fulfillment in Jesus, that he did indeed go to hell but that God raised him up out of that condition.
Acts 2:31 reads "He seeing this before spake of the resurection of Christ.' that his soul was not not left in hell , neither his flesh did see corruption."

There are many instances that people spoke of or asked to go to hell. eg Jonah prayed "I cried out of the belly of hell. Jonah 2:3.
Amos records Gods words to those who would try to escape the Almighty : "Though they go down even to hell, thence shall my hand bring them out"
So God can bring people out of hell.
When Job was suffering he prayed to God "Who will grant me this; that thou mayst protect me in hell and hide me until thy wrath pass and appoint me a time when thou will remember me?

Early Judaism believed that the after life was a place where you just sort of slept eternally. Thoughts of what happened after death gradually evolved after that to what Christians now believe. No big deal.

it is a big deal. God can yank you right out of hell if in his favor. this enlightenment to the Word is a far contrast from todays ideal of god throwing your ass down the chute to hell.

I think the point of this thread is to point out that the concept of Hell has gradually progressed from conceptions in early Judaism to what it is believed to be today. I'm not really sure if Misty intended for a thoughtful debate, or if it was meant more as a swarmy "knockout punch". Regardless, at this point, neither has been achieved.
