BATMAN 03-12-2009, 03:33 PM Yes I joined it.
Here are the options that I am considering:
1. Ask each speaker to describe his/her life if he/she was an object, i.e., a mirror, a table, a chair, a briefcase, a door, etc.
2. Ask the speaker to talk about the bumper sticker, real or imagined, on their car. They can include "Sky diving - A Natural High" and "Protected by Smith & Wesson" and many others.
3. Have each speaker discuss a time (real or imagined, but preferably real) when they saw or met a celebrity.
4. If there are people in your club born in different areas (and/or different countries), try this: "What do people think they know about your birthplace that isn't true?"
5. If you could fly in a hot-air balloon over any city in the world, what city would you choose?
6. If you could go back in time and talk to yourself at the age of ten, what advice would you give yourself?
7. If you could travel back in time to meet anyone in your family's history, whom would
8. Some people say a little white lie is sometimes okay. What do you think?
9. Have the speaker discuss a weird place to live and defend the place as a nice place to live, such as:· Next to a nuclear power plant. · In a swamp. · Bottom of the Grand Canyon. · Top of Mt Cook.
wotnartd 03-12-2009, 05:22 PM Toast Masters?
Alain, you're really scraping the bottom.
$100T2 03-12-2009, 06:53 PM Dude, you need to talk about the power of the ebony rooster.
When all else fails, always talk about what you know best.
Animal 03-12-2009, 10:06 PM LOL'd.

Tofuball 03-13-2009, 08:47 AM Oddly, this thread disturbs me almost as much as your other ones.
BATMAN 03-13-2009, 09:23 AM It was something that my work required that we all attend so that they can move us to management positions and that we can articulate in a professional manner, etc.....
Bottom line is that the boss wants everyone on her team to do this and the economy sucks.
So i obey.........

Make your bosses priorities your priorities.
Is your boss hot?
Cosby 03-15-2009, 09:53 AM I did toastmasters but they assigned random shit to us to do. We didn't really have options past the first day.
BATMAN 03-15-2009, 12:15 PM my boss is like Queen Latifa in looks and personality.
She's pretty dam funny, expects our best, doesn't micro manage, and she is the boss that has all of her suboordinates back.
There was some other girl in another dept that tried to give me attitude for working from home - making her inaccesible, and my boss happen to hear her on speaker phone while walking past my office and told me in her african-american female voice, "Oh no, she did not just through an attitude and called that girl a bitch....." before I was going to respond.
I just sat back and enjoyed a few minutes of ebony drama.

c00lduke 03-17-2009, 12:19 AM The only reason I don't want to do Toast Master is the same reason I should. I hate public speaking.
Fendamonky 03-17-2009, 12:41 AM What the fuck IS Toast Master??? Seriously, lol!
Animal 03-17-2009, 01:24 AM For one, it's a brand of toaster.
Also, the first thing I thought when I saw the "Toastmasters" logo was "OMG, Goatse!"

You do speeches and stuff.
Cosby 03-17-2009, 08:18 AM haha @ goatse
BATMAN 03-17-2009, 09:27 AM It's a club where people want to build public speaking skills and confidence.
The idea to to hone ur skills where you get connect with people and get the message across.
there are alot of stuff that they do such as keep track of how many "Ums, ahs, u-know, etc." that u say during a demo speak and over time u just improve. Most people aren't born with these skills of flowing out messages in public or even private venues.
Fendamonky 03-17-2009, 07:21 PM Ah, I gotcha. Yeah.. I worked through all that shit when I was on my ship. Every filler word used in an official interaction was between $.25 and $1.00. Everybody participated and the cash went into a collection of beer money for when we pulled into the next port.
