BATMAN 08-03-2005, 11:35 AM http://bikemart.com/site/images/library/large/nike_90511_05_m.jpg http://www.nashbar.com/nashbar_photos/medium/YS-ECRS.gif wonner 08-03-2005, 11:44 AM number one-cause it got the swoosh BATMAN 08-03-2005, 11:49 AM that's the Lance Armstrong Shoe that he wore. $300 MSRP The other one is about half the price. speed_monkey 08-03-2005, 11:50 AM Oh, then get the other one lmao DarkAngelKamui 08-03-2005, 11:52 AM Bottom one wonner 08-03-2005, 11:53 AM buy the most expensive one ...... price=quality vrooom305 08-03-2005, 11:55 AM ^ not really.... speed_monkey 08-03-2005, 11:57 AM These are shoes... the increase in price is no doubt because they are nike and Lance used them. wonner 08-03-2005, 12:00 PM I didn't know you were a riding enthusist BATMAN? What kind of helmet and spandex shorts are you going to get? BATMAN 08-03-2005, 12:00 PM The lance shoe is suppose to be just a few grams lighter. It has the collector-edition "wow" factor. The only thing that I don't like about it is the silver heel. The lines of a third major color don't mesh well. Both have carbon fiber soles and similar materials for the uppers. BATMAN 08-03-2005, 12:04 PM I didn't know you were a riding enthusist BATMAN? What kind of helmet and spandex shorts are you going to get? I'm full of surprises eh? I've got a Bell helmet......... yellow of course, and tan-through yellow tights. They don't see through. Bike is all yellow. wonner 08-03-2005, 12:07 PM protect your baby-makers,though BATMAN 08-03-2005, 12:07 PM ^ not really.... Generally speaking. They seem to have put a great deal of R&D into it on the program that I saw on Discovery Channel. Now, I don't know if any of the $$$ from the mark-up went to nut-cancer research. King 08-03-2005, 12:46 PM batman wearing a helmet.....who would've thought..... BATMAN 08-03-2005, 01:14 PM I docked the ears....... King 08-03-2005, 01:40 PM I really wasnt referring to your ears... Do you have a drool guard too? RB240 08-03-2005, 02:41 PM id say, lets see the helmet and bike and shorts. NOT ON YOU... Then we can match and compare. Personally, the bottom ones look coo'. But I'm biased when it comes to black. AmishBoy 08-03-2005, 04:43 PM Second one. BlackRX7Turbo 08-08-2005, 01:50 PM I like the second one, but it's probably because I prefer "yellow on black" vs. "black on yellow"... (i.e. the 2nd has more black than yellow)... if I were competitive, I'd get whichever would give me the edge, pretty much regardless of the looks, though... BATMAN 08-08-2005, 01:59 PM The Nike is supposed to be a few grams lighter and more aerodynamic. But they are going for almost twice as much. jhammons01 08-08-2005, 02:01 PM Damn, BATMAN, your going off the deep end. Don't start counting grams. You'll never be happy with that. go for the cheaper shoes........there shoes. BAck to the grams thingy. When I was much younger and racing heavily, I got cought up in chasing grams. After shit started breaking becuase it was too light I started buying stuff that would allow me to actually finish the race. Do you want to hear what I discovered???? Do you really????? I actually did better with a heavier bike. The light weight wight stuff would flex under power and rob me of the 1/4 BHP that a "good" riders legs can produce. Flex is Really really bad. Aluminum road bike frames will give out quickly......now the manufacturers will make a new frame for their sponsered riders and throw out the old flexy used one....but they don't tell you that. You ride a few miles on your flexy stuff and......soon your riding a rubber bike and can't get anywhere.....and you don't have an endless budget to buy a new frame every 2000 miles. Heed my warning. Me????? I raced BMX, (still do) Road, Mountain, and track. now I am fat and ride a cruiser. wonner 08-08-2005, 02:05 PM Me????? I raced BMX, (still do) Road, Mountain, and track. now I am fat and ride a cruiser. What a minute; weren't you in that movie "Rad"? BATMAN 08-08-2005, 02:43 PM I thought Alluminum was the best in terms of stiffness.......... hence transferring most of the power to the ground by reduced flex. Right now, I have a Cro-moly Peugeot that's getting replaced by a softride. BATMAN 08-08-2005, 02:57 PM Yeach, counting all those grams can be maddening............ and drive up the cost of the bike exponentially. At the end of the day, I'm not competing, just want to maintain a reasonable shape. Also, since I'm spending some good amount of $$$ on the bike, i want it to look good. It sorta gives me the warm and fuzzies for spending $$$ on the bike if u catch my drift. jhammons01 08-08-2005, 03:53 PM What a minute; weren't you in that movie "Rad"? Hey!! I was in RAD!! I was the one that did the jump!! Aluminum is in no way stiffer than the other materials. The old 2000 series alloy is the stiffest but it breaks or cracks easily. The 7000 series aluminum is stronger and flexes but not as far as the 6000 series alloy. You'll see al the US made frames have 6061 T6 material and all the Taiwan and China made frames are the 7000 series. 6061 T6 has the most "Memory", which means you can flex it farther and it comes back into original position more times than the other two mentioned so 6061 is the most sought after but the most expensive. Steal frames are by far the most practical and by steal I mean like a 4130 Chromally steal. It will last the longest and flex the least but by far it is heavier than the alluminums. Chuck Robinson from Robinson Racing gave me my 24" BMX Cruiser before he died back in '91 or so. I can still race that bike cuase it is 4130. Had it been aluminum it would have been done years ago. When I show up at the track my bike is older that 95% of the kids racing.......they give me shit for it. I just laugh. BMX, Downhill and olympic Velodrome where the best kind of racing. Road was way too boring. BATMAN 08-08-2005, 04:26 PM I agree on Cro-moly. It rides the best and lasts the longest. I've crashed many times and been hit by a car on that bike. Fucker takes a beating and keeps on ticking. But the ONLY draw back is that at 27lbs. for the full bike, it's rather heavy and needs to be retired. |
