Say No To Pistons 02-26-2007, 09:40 PM I found a deal on a Canon Rebel Ti. Don't know if it comes with a lens though. I just PMed the user.
"am selling my Canon Rebel Ti 35mm SLR. It has seen average use, maybe 120 rolls shot on it. It is 3 years old, in good condition except for the film loading compartment cover, which is a little tricky and you have to push it harder than normal to close it. It does not leak light in at all so there is really no problem...just an annoying thing. Other than that the usual scratches. I would like to get $60 shipped. PM me or email:"
$60 bucks. Maybe i could get him down to 50? I don't know. Think it's a good camera for me to play with?
wotnartd 02-26-2007, 10:52 PM I do. Make sure it comes with a lens though, that makes things easier. Not quite my style, for 35MM, but good nonetheless.
I am a huge fan of Canon, quality all the way around. My dad's had his Canon (IDK what it's called right off hand) 35MM and his five lenses since the late 70s, and they all still work like new. If you don't wanna fuck around, Canon is how you roll. My digicam is a Canon A85, it's only 4MP, but it's got a fantastic manual mode.
I say go for it, for $60, it's worth it.
Cosby 02-27-2007, 01:55 AM thats a super awesome camera for what it is. That's a bangin price too. I wanted one but with lenses it was out of my price range at the time. I think some of my atlanta pictures were taken with one if you feel like browsing the gallery.

Say No To Pistons 02-27-2007, 02:53 PM What should i look for thats under 100 used for a whole "kit" (used)?
I think he's only selling the body. I see offers over 100 on ebay for used Rebel Ti's with kit lens. He still didn't respond to my PM yet :( .

I will give Cannon credit for being easier to use and more durable than Nikon.
That said, Nikons have always taken the best pictures.

:werd: I love my cannon 20D, but I love the D70 Nikons even more.

Nikon is more durable than Cannon.
Like Lexus to Acura or Benz to BMW.
There was some commercial years ago where they dropped a F4 from a helicopter and it still took pics.
No manufacturer can make that claim.
Say No To Pistons 02-27-2007, 05:09 PM  Cannon. So if it's only the body, is it still a good buy? What lenses should i get (under 100 dollars) if i DO end up getting the Rebel Ti? What other cameras are there under 100 dollars used?
Supper 02-27-2007, 05:14 PM If you do get the cannon (I would for that price) try and pick up some used Sigma lenses for cheap. They make some wicked glass for cameras and are my personal favs.

Say No To Pistons 02-27-2007, 06:56 PM I think a cheap beginners lens with manual focus should be good for me if i do get the Rebel. I still gotta get a FC before summer ;) .
The seller still didn't PM me yet. If he was active from 10am to 7pm on teh forum. If he's going to sell (post) a fucking item on teh forum he should at least PM me back. I even posted in the thread and IMed him. Dick head.
edit: Did some research on the Canon Rebel Ti. I found a scanner while trolling through a forum.

"-Canon Rebel Ti
-Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro
-Canon 50mm f/1.8
-Canon CanoScan LiDE 500F Flatbed Scanner"
"I've had the same problems with epson scanners before JSpurling, I don't know why or what the problem is with them, but they've never worked properly for me. This is the 2nd canon scanner I have used (borrowed one from a friend before purchasing mine) and I've never had a problem scanning either the prints or the negatives with either of them. Might be something to look at if it becomes more hassle than its worth, I got the new canoscan 500F for $149.00 cdn, pretty cheap."
Some dude's set up.

Hmm wtf. It's missing that rubber piece (Eyecup) for the viewfinder... SHouldn't be a problem, right?

Canon has Maria Sharapova. Can't touch that, now can you? Too bad she does Powershots and not Rebels ahaha

I'd say its worth it. That rubber dealie is pretty damn easy to get and put on.
Say No To Pistons 02-28-2007, 03:09 PM 1 vote for Rebel... Any more suggestions or whatever?
Say No To Pistons 02-28-2007, 04:09 PM Bump because some idiot wouldn't stop posting stupid shit to access the pronz. More inputs please, asap! Help me make up my mind before it's gone.
Supper 02-28-2007, 04:23 PM More input? Okay...
My dad has an old cannon from the mid 70's, a pre-EOS IIRC (probably mistaken though) and its still going strong. Pre-magnesium bodies too. Nice and heavy.
He also has a nikon of the exact same vintage (bought them both for company work in the oilfield). It shit the bed almost 12 years ago and hasn't been able to be repaired since. Sure, we've had it fixed 4 times now, but each time it only lasts a month or two until it breaks again. An issue with the shutter.
From some of the stuff I read before purchasing the 20D I found out that cannon has a longer shutter life, but Nikons have a stronger body. So, if you want to shoot millions of frames without repairs you might want a Cannon. Also, with that camera having an unknown number of frames shot, more of a chance that it will last you longer.
Then again, I could be mistaken on those "facts" as its been three years ago that I did any research into SLR cameras. Do a google search for "SLR Camera Reviews" and poke around a bit.
Say No To Pistons 02-28-2007, 05:37 PM OK, so what type of films would i need? Where do i buy them?
Say No To Pistons 02-28-2007, 08:04 PM ^ Hump... Bump.
Supper 02-28-2007, 08:32 PM OK, so what type of films would i need? Where do i buy them?
um... most drug stores carry film. Start with something simple with mid range ISO value, IIRC I learned to shoot film on ISO600, very forgiving film. It goes all the way from ISO100 to ISO12000.
Say No To Pistons 02-28-2007, 09:13 PM I'll learn about those later. I thought i was supposed to use some high quality film or something like that with a SLR. I remember when i use to use ISO600 from Kodak and Fugifilm with my dads late 80's Nikon.
Eatmyclutch 03-01-2007, 12:54 AM Stop thinking and just go with your gut instinct. And using google woulnd't hurt a chink.

special film? hah. Maybe if you start working for National Geographic, and then you won't have to worry about it because they will give it to you.

I did, mini breakfast sausage.
Say No To Pistons 03-01-2007, 05:09 PM I'm going to try and talk it down to 65 shipped with the lens. I can't find any film SLR forums, only digital photography :( .
