Gotta love ESPN's worship of a death cult. Jerkoffs." HA! Gotta love people who have no problem bashing on these crazy fucks while sitting on their nice couch in their A/c at home, driving their prius to work everyday, and generally hating thier lives, so they hate on people actually doing something cool. Manntis 08-03-2007, 01:41 PM and people give me shit for skydiving... lol SpartanTS 08-03-2007, 04:13 PM and people give me shit for skydiving... lol My friends give me shit for roller coasters... cool_as_crap 08-03-2007, 04:20 PM Dang Manntis 08-03-2007, 04:21 PM My friends give me shit for roller coasters... What's their idea of fun? Scrap booking? jhammons01 08-03-2007, 04:38 PM I DO NOT know how that guy got up after that. That had to be painful. It was a superhuman feat to be able to sustain that brutal of a fall and not be broken from head to toe. Some call me and what we did back the late 70s trend setting. We were thought to be super human because we could ride our BMX bikes up a skate board ramp and do a 180° at the top.....some even went as high as 1 whole foot above the height of the ramp!!!! These guys in today in the X games.......they are incredible And to those comments at the bottom. This could inly come from a person that: A. has never even tried to bunny hop a bicycle or learn to do an ollie B. Has no concept of the joy, exhilaration and freedom you feel from flying through the air at Head High heights and landing it. If I had one hair left on my ass, I'd love to roll down that ramp and jump that thing. Trust me boys....at about 27 or 28 years....even if you rode at the level I rode.......something happens.......fear seems to outweigh the feeling of invincibility. Sadly it happens so abruptly you never see it coming. I'll give you and example. One year, when I worked for Redline bicycles we were trying to get Billy Griggs to start riding Mountain bikes. We took him a couple of stockers to try out at Orange County "Y" BMX track. He and I took turns riding the MTBs and jumping the big Triples on the second straight. The bottom of our tires were at least 2 foot above the tallest people in the audience. We were on Cheap (in todays terms) MTBs and you really had to gas it to get enough air to clear the back of the third Jump and they were prolly 4' in height. Too slow and you plow the front side of the third jump. We went on like this for almost 30 minutes....no troubles and Tons of fun. THE very next year in Seattle......Peninsula Indoor BMX....set of doubles on the first straight........easy right???? The boys shriveled up in the crotch and I rolled them every time....and I was on a 24" pure BMX cruiser. Never got up in the air after that............something happens..... Enjoy it will you are young. This from a guy that used to love to Jump....height....distance....both....it didn't matter.....jump it...Now just memories of looking down at faces looking up at me with their mouth open...... Manntis 08-03-2007, 04:59 PM Must be some part of the mind aware of the increasing fragility of bones coinciding with decreased flexibility and recuperation rates. jhammons01 08-03-2007, 10:18 PM You start to think.....man I really don't feel like getting hurt today...maybe tomorrow. At age 18......it is......Win MOFO.......I don't care what happens.. czarofzar 08-03-2007, 10:19 PM all I can think of is butt beads. Dont know why jhammons01 08-03-2007, 11:00 PM who are you calling the buttheads? The announcers? the riders? The commentators? Me? Supper 08-03-2007, 11:15 PM You start to think.....man I really don't feel like getting hurt today...maybe tomorrow. At age 18......it is......Win MOFO.......I don't care what happens.. it all depends on how much of an adrenaline addict you are. Need for another shot of the stuff sometimes outweighs the best intentions for your own body. Been there, done that, still doing it. R281 08-03-2007, 11:24 PM I've done crazy crap as well, but no longer doing it. edit: My idea of crazy is conservative by the way. :D Queen 08-04-2007, 12:04 AM http://z.about.com/d/sexuality/1/0/I/1/anal_beads.gif wotnartd 08-04-2007, 07:27 AM I've done crazy crap as well, but no longer doing it. edit: My idea of crazy is conservative by the way. :D double plus one I do stupid things that could get me killed all the time, yet they aren't really exciting. I just like to drive my car fast around tight corners on public roads. $100T2 08-04-2007, 09:11 AM Good christ. That guy should be paralyzed... He definitely got lucky. Supper 08-04-2007, 10:47 AM http://z.about.com/d/sexuality/1/0/I/1/anal_beads.gif your idea of crazy is anal beads? Who woulda guessed  The real question is are they for you or for zero? Queen 08-04-2007, 01:57 PM all I can think of is butt beads. Dont know why Try reading the thread, Supper czarofzar 08-04-2007, 03:02 PM lol yeah! Pay attention, Supper. Someday you'll learn to entice a girl over with one of those. I am proud of you, Queen. What a master piece! At least I know who NOT to fuck with! Enjoy it will you are young. This from a guy that used to love to Jump....height....distance....both....it didn't matter.....jump it...Now just memories of looking down at faces looking up at me with their mouth open...... I can relate to this quite a bit. I skated for the better part of my life (I'm 34 now) and every time I slammed hard I would just get up, walk it off and wrap an ace bandage around it. And my story is simular to yours because I grew up when people were just starting to do handrails and things of that nature. Nothing was too scary to try. Then around the time I was 23-24 and after breaking my arm (broke both bones in my forearm completely in two), wrist, 3 fingers, and rolling my ankle 4 times to the point that my heel touched the side of my leg it just left me. I just don't have it any more. For me it isn't so much the fear it's just that the "fire" isn't there any more. I still think about it and it kind of makes me sad, but I guess I'm just getting my adrenaline in different ways now (fast cars). jhammons01 08-05-2007, 01:47 AM For me it isn't so much the fear it's just that the "fire" isn't there any more. I still think about it and it kind of makes me sad, but I guess I'm just getting my adrenaline in different ways now (fast cars). that may be it as well. I showed up at a few races in 2002 and raced the 35-40 Cruiser. I took a few first places and then I was over it. I do remember being 13 and almost having a meltdown over not being able to race due to bad weather. I guess that is the fire that is gone. I raced steady for almost 7 years......sometimes 5 races per weekend. That will burn you out for sure. Herschel 08-05-2007, 04:08 PM I do remember being 13 and almost having a meltdown over not being able to race due to bad weather. I guess that is the fire that is gone. Boy do I know that feeling. It used to piss me off so fucking bad when it rained and I couldn't skate. I even went so far as to build the miniest of mini ramps in my parents basement. You had to start in one room of the basement, build up speed, navigate thru a narrow doorway into the room that had the ramp in it, do your trick and then try like hell to not slam into the door on the way back out, LMAO! We also used to watch all the skate vids that we had, back to back until one of two things happend...a.) It dried out and we could go skate, or b.) we all got basicly blue balls from the pent up urge to skate and we would break out the finger boards, LMAO! I really miss that fire though........ 95whitepep 08-05-2007, 05:30 PM Brown begins recovery Skateboarder Jake Brown, whose 45-foot free-fall Thursday night brought a hush to the crowd at Staples Center, remains hospitalized after suffering bruises of the liver and lung, stress fractures in his vertebrae and a small fracture on the top of one hand. Brown, 32, who was injured during the big air competition on the mega-ramp during a silver medalist performance, is expected to be released from the hospital today or Sunday and make a full recovery. "Doctors said there was no paralysis or anything like that," said Bryce Kanights, team manager for Adidas, which is among Brown's corporate sponsors. Kanights was critical of X Games medical personnel for not immobilizing Brown immediately and placing him in a stretcher. A hospital spokesman refused to discuss Brown's condition. Herschel 08-05-2007, 06:05 PM I would be a pool of meat after a fall like that......and my liver and lung would most likely have shot out of my ass at a high enough velocity to kill a spectator. jhammons01 08-05-2007, 06:25 PM LMAO! I really miss that fire though........ And now? I live 15 minutes (side roads) from Orange county Y BMX track. I did all my racing based out of Texas when all the action was happening Here in California. Once I get to where the action is happening, I'm too old to take advantage of it. Manntis 08-05-2007, 07:30 PM Once I get to where the action is happening, I'm too old to take advantage of it. So you live near a cheerleading camp, huh...
