im not going look to see if the thred of jehovah witness was locked out so i'll post in here.

Did you get that meeting with them with pics? if not, lets get to it.

They came by a few days ago. This time it was a well dressed man and I assume his son whom stood three feet tall and wearing a suit that was too large for the boy. Seeing the boy, I placed my plastic church face on and shook the mans hand. They left me with stuff to read. When I shut the door, I crumpled it all up, of course.

They called last week but I'm not ready for them yet.

If you took their reading material, they'll be back.

Couple points, bx.
What chaps my ass with these guys is no birthdays (The head of JTB at a birthday party). The other is when to celebrate jesus birthday (Sheep outside grazing)

What say you on these points?

Ark, if that small kid comes back, I cant say shit to the man until he comes alone.

It took me a few moments to decipher JTB. I'm a calvinistic leaning non-denom with a baptist background. I say birthday parties are AOK. I don't believe Jesus' birthday was celebrated by the apostolic fathers, but hey, they didn't develop trinitarian doctrine right away either. For the JWs, I suspect the birthday party issue is there to foster some sort of alienation. The bible has absolutely nothing to say inwardly or outwardly about them. But if JW's can build an inclusive mindset and some guilt, they'll use it. Typcial cult practice.

coming out this month, huh? I doubt it will sell many tickets, but the basic theme is 100% accurate

I think it's supposed to come out in May. I heard Ben Stien on the radio this morning on focus on the family. Not that I'm a fan of focus on the family, it was just the circumstances. Ben was asked an interesting question. In his opinion what should be taught? Ben said he'd mention both sides but then also point out that mathematically the idea that random mutations caused life is all but impossible. Ha! Ha!

Is it possible to teach biology without a darwinist bent?

I'd watch it. I doubt I'd agree with much of it but I'm sure it will be well done.

I get asked this question alot as well, what should be taught in the science classroom? simple: whatever cannot be verified by empirical/experimental science should not be taught in the science classroom, which basically lets out any discussion of origins, kids can ask those types of questions of their parents

adaptation, selection, speciation, genetic drift: good science, should be taught

"ape man", "common descent", "transitional forms", fancy looking sketches from the 70s Time Life books showing dwarf horses getting larger, all that nonsense should be excluded, it's pure conjecture

kids should be taught what the fossil record clearly shows and they can draw their own conclusions: sudden appearance of fully formed plant and animal groups, with subsequent speciation, anything beyond that is religion

It shouldn't be that big of a deal. If kids these days are anything like me, they'll forget just about everything that they learn in school pretty quickly.

I'd personally rather they don't mention either side as well.

EDIT: I'm fine with them mentioning facts, however.
