I relish life left of the mississippi, and after the last time, I swore I'd never live on the wrong side of it again.
But...
There are a couple reasons I need to consider moving to Huntington.
The only thing I know about WV is the shit hole casino in wheeling I loose money at a couple times a year when I'm driving back east to see the fam.
Can any of you tell me anything good or bad about the Huntington area?

A friend of mine is from there. His Dad appears to own like half the town. A dozen drycleaners, some chemical plant, a few restaurants, some office buildings, a towing company, etc..
The way he describes it, it sounded awesome, but that might also because he grew up being the son of some dude who owned what appears to be half the fucking town. He got away with murder, has some great stories.
Otherwise I know nothing about it.

A good friend of mine lives there. I've never been, but judging by this guy I'd bet it was a relatively small area with a lot of mountain folk.

isnt it like the biggest town in WV? and it has a state university too.
I figured it couldn't be too bad a place. But yeah, mountain folk.

No, Charleston is. Huntington still has less than 50,000 people. Hell, Penn State or any other major university generally has over 40,000 students, and I wouldn't consider State College PA to be a large town. Though by West Virginia standards, I guess it would be.

Hmm. smaller than my current town=not what I was looking for.
Gonna go check it out in a couple weeks, we'll see.

i once visited a town near there called beckley. the backwoods, bumpkin, inbreed jed accent was soo thick i couldn't understand a word they were saying. oh and Marshall University in in hunnington.
