i bought an energy suspension polyurethane bushing kit to spruce up the weepy rubber bushings on my 240sx. then i saw this thread on zilvia...

in case you are not a 240sx guy and don't know wtf you are looking at, here's a primer. tension rod (#6 iirc) connects to lower arm by two bolts. it has a bushing in front that connects to a support bracket.
after installing tension rod poly ES bushing in the front, the two screws in the lower control arm became one giant hole. the owner blames the polyurethane ES bushing for not giving the tension rod enough play. weakest link went; in this case it was where the tension rod attached to the lower control arm. the bolts wore the two holes into one ginormous groove.
to complicate the matter, i remember hearing that back in the day, people were cracking their lower control arms. this was caused, iirc, not by the bushing, but by excessive lowering without the proper modifications which essentially caused the stock suspension arms to bind. (stupid dorifuto ricers...) okay. not the issue here, imo.
i have also heard that ES has since revised their design to use a poly core, some kind of intermediate sleeve and a rubber outside coating. i haven't actually looked at one yet, as my set is still in the mail.
