Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I just got through doing a total re-format on my computer. (Dual boot 98SE and Windows 2000) In addition to that, workin at Best Buy has been suckin up my time lately, but hopefully I can make time for everything else...

Anyway, Well, I'm back...blah!

i format mine about once a month. not sure why really it doesnt take long.

yea formatting a 120GB hard drive aint a short task. It's a pain in the ass to sit and wait for it to get finished. Well, all I gotta do is defrag it tonight and that should take care of everything.

Oh yea, and working at Best Buy isn't exactly turning on the fun. :scratch:

There are better jobs out there. Best Buy just looks good on the resume.

I had that same problem that had somehow managed to weasel its way to my XP and my 98 1st Edition partitions. Even with Norton Personal Firewall, I couldn't get it to stop. So now, I use my Windows 2000 for school, basic internet, Microsoft Office, and other business stuff. While my 98SE install is for my games, downloads, and everything else.

Hopefully, I won't have any more problems with my system.

yeah I have a program called SpyBot, and its real good aobut cleaning that crap out, but it just wouldnt stop. So i finialy reached my breaking point and just formated every thing. burned what I wanted to keep and deleted the rest.

so far so good. not a single popup.

I got another problem tho, and I think it may be XP realated..

every once in a while. my computer will jsut start ingoreing my internet connecting... not sure why.. but i have to go into connections, and disable it, then reenable it.. and then its fine. ANy ideas ?

I had that same problem and it was really annoying. I had to do a release/renew address every couple of hours. I got the latest drivers for my network card and I use Win2K and I don't have a single problem.

XP kinda sorta sucks. It just looks pretty. I have both editions Home and Pro and my Windows 2000 runs a helluva lot better than them both. And a lot of my older apps don't like XP very much.

Try getting the newer drivers for your network card. If that doesn't work, screw XP and use Win2k :)
