I'm a bit late getting around to asking, but here goes...

My mother recently paid a guy a significant amount of money to remodel her kitchen and install a fence around her yard. Everything was going just fine for a while, but then the guy started to not show up as often and got really lazy with his work.

My mother finally ended up saying enough was enough and asked for her money back for the job he wasn't doing. He ended up writing a check to her in return, but she later found out that it bounced. Since then, all of the phone numbers he gave her ended up being "unavailable" and the guy pretty much split.

Now then, here's where my request comes into play.... I want to know who here is able to look up information on:

VA licence plates
Supposed address and name
Supposed web address and e-mail
Supposed partner's name and phone number (guy ranted about other guys work like they were buddies, but when the check bounced claimed that he only referred him)

I want to gain as much info on the guy as possible so that I can form a plan of action against him if he doesn't return what's owed, either in work or pay.... I'll PM anyone who's able the info I have on this so far...

Either you have everything mapped out for them, or you take matters into your own hands....

Once I get all the info, i'll decide from there on how I want to do things....

beyond the bounced check it is civil. There are a lot of people lookup services on the web. You'd probably do just as well to use one of those.

Well, my mom's already lost a bit of cash on this whole bad deal, so I wish to keep costs to a minimum...

Hence why i'm asking around for leads people can give me, rather then going easier routes

A lot of states post public records. Property, vehicles, etc for tax purposes. I'd try the state and county websites.

does you news provide those investigators with a dude and a camera man?

Hell if I know, but I don't really feel like going to such an extreme just to get some action taken....

All I really need is a bit more personal info on this guy and i'll be set...

quit the vigilante bullshit attitude that can backfire if you get caught.
Spend the money on an investigator so that you can ask for costs when you take the matter to small claims court. That's the best way to get your money back, as opposed to trying to scare the guy or do other testosterone induced acts of stupidity.

Well, either way, I need information so that I can put together a valid case against the guy as well as file a solid case on the guy when and if my mother takes it to the police...

Like I said before, the law enforcement around my parts is "lacking" to say the least, so any help I can give them in doing their job gets things done all the more faster.... It helps if I can use as few resources as possible while I do that...

i was going to say that too... seriously see if they can help out. im sure if they can and they find the guy he wouldnt like some media attention, plus you get to make an ass out of him. thats if you'd like that

Thats better then around here, I got robbed a while back and gave the cops there full names, phone number, hell even directions to there house, discription of what it looks like and who they live with. Then on top of that theres the securty camera shots they have sittin in the station. That was like 4 months ago and they have yet to get off there sorry asses, and I did all there work for them! Sorry bout the rant.
