c00lduke 11-16-2005, 10:38 PM Between fighting for your ability to say racial slurs and talking about how awful GW is do you guys find time to invest your money? Stocks, Bonds, Metals....Anything?
I've had a little money in various places over the years and it has been doing well. Now having a little extra I've considered putting more into the market instead dumping it into my car. Of course some money will go to the 7, just not all like in the past. So do you guys invest? Why? Why not?

That's not necessarily true. While house prices have been artificially inflated due to the massive drops in interest rates last year, a home and/or land is still the best investment, particularly if you pick the right area. Take where we live, for example. The value of our home has doubled in the last five years, and not because of interest rates... It's because more people that commute to Providence and Boston are moving farther away from the big cities, and that's driving up prices. Pick a nice area that will be more and more desirable as time passes, keep your home in good shape, and it's still the best return on your money.
2ndGen.Rocket 11-17-2005, 01:24 PM Well, if you are going to buy prime real estate in a suburban location that is close to a major city then sure, go for it. In general though, the real estate market is down right now. I was considering buying a house last year but then I realized that I don't like living here that much, and that I would never build any equity since this isn't a major city, there is no draw to come here, and I would only have the thing for a few years.

I wonder if the water has receeded enough to actually check out what you're buying. Im sure the flooding has went down, but once another hurricane struck, everyone forgot about Katrina, and all the news stations jumped on that new story.
As for investing, RE is pretty decent as long as no one builds landfills or puts trailers beside you.

BATMAN 11-17-2005, 02:42 PM don't matter............ just buy dammit.
$100T2 11-17-2005, 03:30 PM In general though, the real estate market is down right now.
Which is the best time to buy. If the market is dropping (thanks to last years over inflated prices), that's when you buy.
