Gaza/Israeli ceasefire = Hamas rearms and preps for action. Israel doesn't need to rearm or prep, they're always fucking hoss.

Ceasefire ends and the Palestinians start launching off (more) home-made missiles (did I mention a couple fell short and killed two Palestinian school girls?) into Israel. Israel says "WFT" and hit's back.

Israel doesn't fuck around. Palestinians aren't too sharp...

The Israeli Defense Force was born in fire, they proved themselves worthy, and have been holding what they have, against enemies on all sides, for 60 years. They invest in (and come up with) cutting edge technology, the entire country serves in the Military at some point in their lives. The entire population can stand up and fight if needed. They don't fuck around.

no question the U.S. has been a hedge for Israel, I see this as a reason the U.S. was so incredibly prosperous after WW2 (now we have a generation that doesn't care about any of that), but at this point in time Israel can defend themselves

Funny thing is... I've got an ex- that moved to Jerusalem over the summer. I wasn't too happy about seeing her go (pretty much ended the possibility of getting back together when I returned from overseas), I'm *really* tempted to start talking to her again in light of everything that's going on there.
