Fucking shit!!!

I called up the bank and they said it was due to an increase in taxes. I guess the county I live in appraised my house a lot higher last year and my taxes went up a lot. The escrow amount from my payments to the bank wasn't enough and I owe my bank extra money.

The extra money I was putting into my mortgage (so I could pay off the house faster) and even my savings is now cut by a good amount.

I'm going to run everything by my accountant on Saturday to make sure everything is on the up and up.

I can't believe this crap.

I apologize for the rant, but I need to vent somewhere and I don't feel like taking out on my family.

My mortgage company always charges more for my taxes escrow every year. Mine gets readjusted every 6 months, when I do pay too much they send a check back?

Time to check if you can get rid of your PMI. Get your house appraised and if you equity is over 20% dump your PMI....here is a link from a quick google search

why would the bank have anything to do with your property taxes? Don't you pay the latter directly to the city, separate and apart from your mortgage contract?

most mortgages include your taxes in your monthly payment. However you should have the option to have them send you a check to make the payment or they just take care of it and pay your taxes for you.

around here they're separate. Your mortgage is based on what you paid to buy the house, and you pay your property taxes to the city yourself. That way the bank isn't dinging you service charges, interest, or any other 'convenience fees' on property taxes that have fuck all to do with the original transaction of buying the house in the first place.

I feel like selling the damn thing and moving into an apartment for a while. I talked to a real estate agent a month ago and she said I could get $450,000 for it now. I want to go back to school and my budget is going to kick my butt even more now if I decide to keep it. My Lsat is on the 29th of this month. My payment will most likely keep going up and I need it stable for 4 years or so. That's why I got a damn fixed rate.
