After 7 years of training, usually 3-4 times a week, I tested and got my Black Belt today in Aikido.
Hasn't really sunk in yet...I'm sure it will hit me soon....

my friend takes Wing Chun (sp?), it's the art Bruce Lee did. His teacher was taught by the same man (the grand master) that Bruce Lee also learned from. He already broke another friends ribs (accidentally) showing him a simple punch. Doh!

My instructor is a retired GM executive that used to run OPEL in the UK....he does this for the health, friends, and spiritual aspects.

While I'll agree sometime people can just buy a belt, it really isn't the case here.
I think the only thing that I'll have to pay for is the registration with Japan, which I hear will cost less than 50 bucks.

Aikido has its roots in jujitsu, but instead of pinning a person down, we like to throw them about 3-5 feet away from you.

My BB test had me being attack by three people at once....one of the grading criteria was to keep the others not being thrown away from you by either keeping them in eyesight or by placing the person being thrown into another attacker...

Sure no problem there....My test also included Bokken (sword), jo(spear), tonto (knife)....
All take aways where not only did I defend but I removed the weapon from the attacker and helped him relax with the ground.

Then again, being that youre such the big bad gym ass kicker, you would know that already, right? If you stood upright and swung your fist forward in the same exact motion as a bench press, you wouldnt dent a piece of tin foil with it. A punch is about getting the momentum of your body behind your fist, a bench press is laying flat on your back and using only a few of those muscles.
