Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 11:20 AM No Inspection Sticker!?!?
http://pojonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080408/NEWS05/80408010WAWARSING
— A Kingston teenager died Monday morning after he crashed his car into an oil truck while he was being chased by state police.
Just before 11 a.m., Trooper Michael Olonko was exiting the parking lot of the state police barracks at Ellenville on Route 209 when he saw a yellow 1998 Volkswagen sedan driving southbound without an inspection sticker, police said.
When Olonko attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, Kyle Freese, 19, did not react to his lights, police said. When Olonko put on his siren, the man sped up and moved into the oncoming northbound lane, passing several cars, police said.
As he was rounding a curve in the road, still in the oncoming northbound lane, Freese collided head-on with a 1994 International fuel oil truck owned by Heritage Energy, police said.
The truck driver, Kenneth Barringer, 48, of Hurley, attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful, police said.
Freese died at the scene. Barringer suffered a laceration to the head and was treated and released at a local hospital.
It was later revealed the Volkswagen had failed state inspection and was not inspected at the time of the crash, police said.
The investigation of the incident is ongoing, police said.
Tofuball 04-08-2008, 11:24 AM Either he had more to hide then just the inspection, or he thought highly of his chances to escape. Either way, he guessed wrong :/
cool_as_crap 04-08-2008, 11:25 AM No inspection? What would that be, a small fine if he pulled over?
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 11:27 AM 1998 VW Sedan probably a Jetta as I doubt a kid is going to be driving a Passat...versus a 2008 Dodge Charger Police Interceptor...I don't very much like his chances. Unless maybe he has a full tank of gas and the Charger has less than a half a tank...and he has a lot of time to try to outrun them.

75 bucks. 25 dollar fine and 50 dollar court surcharge.

Definitely worth it :owned:
toyo7 04-08-2008, 11:51 AM Maybe a 1.8t jetta with a chip and mods???
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 11:54 AM Wouldn't be a 1.8 Jetta if it were a 98. Maybe a VR6.
Tofuball 04-08-2008, 12:10 PM Prolly had a phat body kit and spoiler, and a JDM exhaust. Prolly ran 8s in the quarter man
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 12:18 PM Word. Local VW guys around here have dual out mufflers with the tips pointing to the sky. They think that's hawt.
wotnartd 04-08-2008, 12:20 PM Maybe a 1.8t jetta with a chip and mods???
Versus a Charger Interceptor?
That's like the football team beating up on the band geeks.
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 12:40 PM And sticking the whole tuba inside their rectums.
wotnartd 04-08-2008, 12:52 PM And sticking the whole tuba inside their rectums.
Ouch.
wotnartd 04-08-2008, 01:57 PM If I was God, and I'm not saying I am, but I'd punish them harder for dying like a moron.
Cosby 04-08-2008, 01:59 PM A 1.8t with a chip and basic mods would easily walk a stock charger. Someone tried to hijack/rob me last night and a cop rolled up. They ran away ...actually... I'll post a new thread. K.
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 02:06 PM The state police here uses Hemi Chargers with all the fixins. These aren't your run of the mill 3.5 High Output Chargers or the 2.7 Fleet Chargers. Also, a 1.8Ts coilpacks would die before it could accelerate. 1998 was the A3/MK3 body style of Jettas and Golfs so unless swapped, this would not have been a 1.8T. Either a 2.0 N/A 4 banger, a 2.8 12v VR6, or a TDI. Only one of those that would have a remote chance of out running the Hemi Charger would be a pretty heavily modified Jetta GLX (12v VR6). Me knows VWs.

I love me some police interceptor crown vics. Shit's fun to drive.
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 02:12 PM They are phasing chargers in more and more at all the barracks here. Still see a few Crown Vics, but it's mostly Chargers here. They still have LT1 Camaros and are rumored to get LS7 Corvettes for high speed pursuit vehicles. You guys wonder why I want to become a Trooper... :D
wotnartd 04-08-2008, 02:27 PM We're phasing in Chargers, in Wisconsin, also.
You ever beaten on one of the interceptor vehicles? Amazing. My grandpa has a '02 Interceptor Vic from the state patrol. That thing kicks ass so hard.
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 02:34 PM My friend actually had the last bodystyle I want to say 1994 P71. Thing was fun as all hell and left some nasty rubber. We used to scare people who were smoking weed in it too. Car still had the spot light and we used to shine on them in local parks and everything and then do burnouts and donuts to scare them shitless.

I like this most recent one a lot. Just a little change with the headlights and dual exhaust.
4.8L V8, heavy duty trans, a bit more get up and go. It walks a lot of cars.
I'd really like to get one (you can get them around $2500!!) and supe it up hardcore. Supercharger and bottlefed, at least (on top of the typical bolt on mods).
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 02:51 PM Underbody Red and Blue LED kit?
wotnartd 04-08-2008, 03:07 PM I don't like underbody lights, but in that case, hell yes.
TJGoSurf 04-08-2008, 03:21 PM I wonder if the truck driver "tried" to avoid the accident. Most drivers will maintain their lane, just for one simple reason. Someone serves into my lane, I serve to avoid them, I'm in the ditch do you think they're going to stop and tell the officer everything that happened? You now have a DOT preventable accident, good luck finding a job for the next 6 months, unless you want to work for one of these newbie companies.
toyo7 04-08-2008, 03:36 PM I've seen some Audi's with that 2.8 12v get up and move with some mods. and the audi is a pig compared!
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 06:49 PM here in NC they impound your car for street racing and convert it to a cop car, they showed a converted 350Z and Mustang Cobra on the news
I call it stealing
So are you Vin Diesel or Paul Walker?

I think he's the Asian dude's gay sidekick. You know, the one on the bike that shoots up the "Danger to teh Manifold!!" car..

In the snakeskin pants?
czarofzar 04-08-2008, 08:39 PM 75 bucks. 25 dollar fine and 50 dollar court surcharge.
understated
car impounded as well.
What happen is the guy was parked at an apartment. The car looking ratty made the cop crane his neck and noticed the sticker was out of date. then sat across the street and waited for the man to get into his car, and drive into the public street to bust his POOR ass.
Cops are dicks to poor people like that. When you are poor, you are criminal. They probably taught you that in cop school.
The man is in a better place without asshole cops.
Why you gotta bust balls all the time? Cops are just doing their job.
Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 09:58 PM Why you gotta bust balls all the time? Cops are just doing their job.
I think he was somewhat joking.
czarofzar 04-08-2008, 10:10 PM well, it did happen to me. I was venting. Thanki vert for being there for me. and.....

Vert8813B 04-08-2008, 10:19 PM This shit has me even more nervous with the whole State Police prospective employment.
