I dont see why everyone thinks they are so great. They seem very childish to me.. complete with stupid unrealistic fight scenes with lots of blood and gore.

I thought pt 1 sucked. Pt 2 was alright, but I was already indifferent from having paid to see the first one. Not his strongest efforts.

You would have had to grow up watching Kung Fu Theater on Sunday mornings or have seen a Sonny Chiba film (let alone know who Sonny Chiba is) to understand Tarantino's influences and how they culminated in Kill Bill. Kill Bill is the ultimate cheesy Kung Fu movie, and it was supposed to have unrealistic fight scenes with lots of blood and gore.

Thats why I said it was an "all right" film.

It succeeded in what he wanted done, and it made me laugh to remember all those old kung fu movies I used to watch when strung out on caffiene in the wee hours of the morning.

But I wouldn't pay money for it simply because it isn't the kind of film from Tarantino that I enjoy. give me more dialogue like Resevoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction.

i didn't like the second one

it tried to be all deep and shit with the relationship between bill and the bride...

but what it really needed was something to match the crazy88 fight scene and gogo

1st one rocked hard core the second one just wraped up the story line in a standard melodromatic JDM way

I would not have minded seeing more of gogo.

i did grow up watching cheesy kung fu movies

tarantino's kill bill is a mish mash of different kung fu genres thrown into one because he can't differentiate a kung fu flick from a samurai drama.

it's all oriental to him.

alot of things pissed me off in that movie, because i understood it better then most people in the theatre.

for instance... he had a japanese character named hattori hanzo and he was a fucking sword maker? that's like creating a character named george washington and making him a gunsmith. it was incredibly stupid.

hattori hanzo is a real historical figure. he served under tokugawa ieyasu... the founder of the last shogunate that controlled japan all the way up until the the late 19th century, when western influences turned the country upside down.

as legend has it hanzo was the very first to be granted the title 'shinobi,' which is a more jdm way of saying ninja... yes, he was the first ninja. he was also the head of the iga ninja, who are only like the most famous clan of shinobi to come down from japanese history.

Some people spend so much time nitpicking movies they forget to enjoy them... which is the whole damn point for the most part.

Not saying aznshitbrick is one of those people... just something I've been noticing more and more lately.

I wouldn't say Van Helsing SUCKED, but it was far less than I was expecting. And Kate was far too clothed for my liking.
