I'm asking for 4k because of the oil leak. It would be straight if you can find someone to weld aluminum. I owe my roomate for 2 month's back rent and it has to go(I'm not trying to end up on Judge Judy for this debt.). Peferbly in the next 5-10 days.

Dude your ad sucks.

I'm his roommate, I was the one who originally found the car before he bought it, and I'll be taking pictures of it this weekend (nice, daylight pictures) and posting them here.

If anyone saw the DC area craigslist listing recently for the '91 TII, that was THIS car. The price you saw was $2500, and that was not a typo, $2500 it is.

Damn you were in the red and tried to sell your car for $1500 more than what you payed with damage to the block? Ahhh man...this is shallow yet so deep.

I like how you "accidentally" left out me lowering the price as I found out what was exactly wrong. Kind of funny, seeing as how its in between the post you decided to qoute.

Also I had the Car checked recently because of smoke on start-up. Thankfully its not coolant smoke. I was told I had a bad oil seal. This probably means it will need a re-build eventually. It still runs fine but because of this I'm now asking for $3200.

Pretty convinced it wasn't the addition of F1 suspension pieces. What "light mods" (or were they fixes) did you do to the car to bump its price up from the original $2500? Your roomate seems to think they weren't enough to get the car sold in time.

I like how you "accidentally" left out me lowering the price as I found out what was exactly wrong. Kind of funny, seeing as how its in between the post you decided to qoute.

 Your original post said you wanted $4000 BECAUSE of the oil leak...so you would've been looking for more without? What kinda 91 RX-7 sells for $5000+ (assuming your engine cost at least that much)?

Thankfully its not coolant smoke. I was told I had a bad oil seal. This probably means it will need a re-build eventually.
Thankfully not coolant smoke? What would be the difference if the motor needed to be built again? The only aqueous solution that should be burning in your motor is gasoline.

We're not arguing, just putting stuff on the table for discussion.

You bought the car for $2500...and tried to sell for $4000...you would've asked more had the engine been safe. So was it smoking when you bought the car? or was $2500 the price with a good engine?

BTW, if someone knows the going price of a good condition T2 RX-7, can they post? My homework says they don't go for $4000+ but I'll admit fault if I'm wrong.

Anyway, after finding out it wasn't a coolant leak (phew...) you decided to drop the price $800 (but the motor was still bad). However $3200 is still not the $2500 you payed, and you never answered what you did to the car to be jacking up the price (which was in your mind once worth a markup of $1500).

Do the motors cost $800 to replace (and I don't want some "I have the hookup so I can get a discounted motor" price)?

Sounds like you were trying to settle up from the red zone, and tried to pocket a little something to stay afloat...which is all good I suppose, but not very honest.:dunno:

You couldn't tell the difference between coolant and oil smoke, yet you want to be building engines? I'd say DAK did the smart thing and bought new. And rebuilt for $350...you were in debt! Did you at one point plan on marking up the rest of your belongings and bike accessories to cover it?

Again, I brought down the price when I found out the problem.
Brought it down to $700 above what you payed...with a bad engine, sure.

How much was the debt? I think you said 2 months back, so I'd assume at least $1250- each month.

1. I would have had to do the manual labor but a mechanic would have told me everything to do while statnding over my shoulder.(like when I did me clutch for instance)

2.I brought it down even more. That's not the only forum it was posted on and that thread kept having to be bumped so I said "forget it" to selling it there.

Someone would've still had to pay for parts, and DAK "the mechanics" time...who gave you that price quote anyway? Standing over your shoulder...they need to be standing in front of the sales counter to help you get commission eh?

2.I brought it down even more. That's not the only forum it was posted on and that thread kept having to be bumped so I said "forget it" to selling it there.
Yeah, you brought it down from $4000, to $3200...which if you do the simple math is a difference of $1500 and $700 respectively OVER what you payed WITH a beat engine it seems.

Which only leaves me with the question of what you did to the car to jack its price up that much? and what condition you bought it in...

3.Ha Ha, 700$ worth of rent debt. Not to mention the "other" who I owed money at the time. Luckily I am now debt free...with no credit card debt either.:smokin:
There is a third party? Who was the "other"? Don't tell me this is some kinda setup like "it was your mom or girl" type stuff. Was it someone legit or some sort of weed debt?

Depending on the place and amount of roomies, $350 is not bad for that part of the country. With or without utilities? Did you live in the basement or what?

I'm delighted to hear you've moved into the orange. Hopefully you didn't get over any innocent buyers to get there.

2. I did'nt say DAK was the mechanic, but he would have helped.
3.That thread was dead way before I sold the car. You have'nt asked how much I actually sold it for BTW.
4. A bud debt would be 10-20 bucks for me, The bank was the "other".
5.without utilities. and our utilities were ridiculous. From the kegarator to the 5 computer network to the 4 t.v.'s the heat, air and furnature for the guest house as well as LAN parties(That pic of DAK with Teddy Rupskin was taken at my house), My roomates recording studio and turntables along with my turntables and sound system and other various bills. Utilities varied so much that half the time I was'nt prepared. I would've paid alot more if I lived in the basement.

Into the orange!? yeah ,like after I sold the car. Its all green from here.
I guess I'm lucky to have learned my lesson about debt at such a young age. The red or orange won't be seeing me for a long time.

Some might have said I got over on the sale(2500$), but the buyer crashed the car 20 miles from my house the day he got it.Luckly he was'nt hurt but still...I'm not the bad guy.

Some might have said I got over on the sale(2500$)
So in the end, you sold for what you payed for, minus the work you did to it.:) If there is any moral to this story, I guess its that you shouldn't be looking to pilot that 240 you have there...which also appears to be in the shop. :dunno:

Meaning what, time and parts are free now? Unless you mean the mechanic watching was a personal friend.
He is a close friend. Plus if there were to be any debt, I would be paying it back by turning the wrench on everyone else's 7.

I'll save this one for another day, but hopefully you did walk away with some coins right?.
Save deez. Deez deez.
some coins...not enough for 1up.

Oh man...how much of this was yours? I brought up the basement because in that photo, I saw you and that other black guy chilling in one...
That was the other half of my roomates studio in the basement. Alot of it.
2 comps on the network, my sound system and Techniques.

So in the end, you sold for what you payed for, minus the work you did to it.:) If there is any moral to this story, I guess its that you shouldn't be looking to pilot that 240 you have there...which also appears to be in the shop. :dunno:
I bought the car for 2,000 and sold it for 2,500.
Ya, Its in the shop for an engine swap.
The 240 is no trouble at all because I have alot more friends who know piston than rotary. Plus with my new job, ITB's are a month away.:smokin:

Ha 800$! I could have had it rebuilt for around 350 dood.Really. Although I would've had to do the work myself with a little help*(DAK)

Again, I brought down the price when I found out the problem. My roomate was the one who suggested all of those prices...because he sells cars...but again, we had no time.

The 240 is no trouble at all because I have alot more friends who know piston than rotary. Plus with my new job, ITB's are a month away.

someone did it with frankenstein GSXR throttle body and a cut upper plenum from a stock intake manifold. he ran a trigger wheel on the crank with megasquirt for fuel control. all for a 15 peak bump in hp and torque. for the kind of money he spent on that, he could've slapped together some junkyard turbo junk and made more power, easier.

total cost ~ $1000
total benefit... dyno posted peak hp 153 peak torque 152. that's most likely a 15 hp/tq increase over stock.

if you're interested in the project itself, i guess you should go for it. but if you actually want to make the 240sx less slow, save up for a turbo charger.

hey onlyonthurs, nice 7. when i posted mine, it was said it looked like urs. don't know why. it's got different wheels and it's not white. i think they were just making fun of the wheel offset, which i know it's not right for the car, but it's all i got. plenty of tire life left. i do need to lower it tho.
