enigma662 07-30-2005, 04:32 AM So I was on my way to the San Jose Grand Prix today, when I see a car carrier go by with a silver Porsche on top. But wait, that's not a 911... that rear wing, the slats in the rear fender... It's a 959! Never seen one before, heard Bill Gates was trying to get one imported for years, and they were only recently approved with some modifications. Then, walking toward the entrance, I see a circle of exotic cars. A yellow Enzo catches my eye first, then a silver Carrera GT, black Saleen S7, and some very old and newer race cars. But there, obscured by a tree, a red car with a very familiar back end... It can't be. A McLaren F1. My favorite car of all time and ultimate dream car. Words cannot describe how beautiful it was. After the race events, we came back to watch the owners leave with the cars. The transport from the Los Gatos dealer came to pick up the S7, which it turns out was the new 750 bhp twin turbo version. Looks like the damn Batmobile in black, very sexy. Then the Enzo started up, also a beautiful noise. Turns out someone left the light on inside the McLaren, and four guys had to push start it lol. We sat there staring at it for a while, then he drove it onto the street. Revved it for a bit, then burned out for a few feet :-D Flywheel is super light, it revs like a race car. We talked to the owner and shook his hand while he was inside the car, apparently it's a race car they're working on making street legal, I think it's on Show and Display or something like that. Then the Enzo pulled out behind him, and he peeled out again for about 5 feet and he was gone. Sorry for the long ass post, but it was a fucking amazing night. I thought it would be years before I got to see an F1 in person, let along hear it rev and burn out. Yesssssssssss. RX7_2ner 07-30-2005, 05:29 AM jesus. that made my night look like horrible crap. i worked 12 hours and went to the gym.... damnitsfrancis 07-30-2005, 02:30 PM me 2... all i did was go down a hill a few times on a bike Manntis 07-30-2005, 02:41 PM There are kits to put a 959 style body on a 911 turbo - relatively common in North America. enigma662 07-30-2005, 02:50 PM There are kits to put a 959 style body on a 911 turbo - relatively common in North America. Yeah, I've heard of that too, but I seriously doubt it was one of those as the cars were lined up for a fundraising dinner for wealthy folks. You pay whatever amount, you get to come inside the ropes and eat I guess. On my way back to the track now, but I doubt today can match yesterday hehe. Ghettostamps 07-30-2005, 04:32 PM Sounds like Ralph Luaren's auot collection, it was just on display here in Boston, they're prolly moving it elsewhere, I got some awesome pictures of his cars. SOmeone that has a ferrari would be a lot more mature than this fuck knuckle turboSE 07-31-2005, 12:09 AM I could care less as well. But I thought the time was appropriate. After that I like the murcielago and of course the classic james bond ashton martin. Sadly I'll never own any of them. enigma662 08-02-2005, 07:15 AM Damn this thread went off topic fast... I'll post some pics tomorrow, ones without me in them so I don't get photochopped :-) BATMAN 08-02-2005, 09:24 AM There are kits to put a 959 style body on a 911 turbo - relatively common in North America. Well, ur the usual buz-kill Mr. Spock. I was there and saw the same car. It just happen that Silicon Valley has beaucoup bucks and ur turf(s) combined doesn't add up. I see exotics every fucking week. Here's a short list that I have seen on the road and parked: Lambroghinis Carrera GT Enzo All sorts of Ferraris including 1 of 3 F50GT (1800lbs~ and 800HP~) S7 MC12 blah blah blah blah -Arrogant FD owner :batman: Wonko The Sane 08-02-2005, 09:29 PM For some reason, I have always loved the 1973 Porsche Carerra RS... There's just something about it that looks like what a sports car should. There's been lots of awesome cars before and after it, but I just love it for some reason.. and I cant' figure out why.. But I WILL own one someday, if I have to replace every bolt on it to pull it off :) |
