LCD is better because I can't afford them.

LCD is better if you have the money for higher refresh rate and a good quality (nec/viewsonic) big screen ones. other than that. NEC and viewsonic 22inch CRTs baby!

I thought LCD's didn't have good refresh rates and that's why game nerds stuck with crt's...

nowadays, the failling of LCD monitors is in displaying dark images...

you'll find movies with night time scenes and games with dark hallways (doom3) will be crisper on a CRT then a LCD.

Size isn't an issue.... i just want the absolute brightest, clearest, sharpest picture i can get.

I'm down for an LCD or CRT.

Are tv's the same as monitors? I have a dell 19inch LCD in my bedroom and it is fucking amazing. Dell even gives oyu a cool ass remote. I have a JVC 32 fkatscreen as my main TV, thats needs to be replaced with somthing nice. I was never a person to spend a lot on a tv until I saw the picture of an LCD.

The picture on mine is so crisp and clear it almost makes shit surreal.

if you want the brightest, clearest, sharpest picture in an LCD, expect to spend some major money.

I have a 20" Apple Cinema Display and it is just fucking awesome. Its so bright when on max setting that it will literally light up my whole apartment.

I have three different settings for it as well, the "normal use" where everything is set way dark and is easier on the eyes, the "game mode" where its even darker, yet contrast is set higher, and the "graphics editing mode" where it is set to give "true to life" colors and whatnot. I haven't yet purchased a calibration tool because I'm not -that- paranoid about the graphics work I do.

If we're talking TV, then obviously projectors win over LCD and CRT's.

If we're talking computers, LCD's win, not the ones with the horrible response time though.

actually if i had enough spae i would rather choose a really nice big Viewsonic CRT over any LCD.

CRT will be a shaper cheaper picture that has better abilities to produce dark colors. LCD by their nature take up much less space and are more bright.

I feel that if you want the absolute best quality, you go with a CRT; but, personally, I find that the LCD is best for everyday use because it is easier on the eyes.

The main thing is staring at text so much...

I need a very sharp picture, that's going to be easy on the eyes.

And I may want to load vice city twice a year, and snipe black people.

LCD, hands down.

I'll never go back to CRT for text again, mayb for gaming and graphics, but never for text.

I don't know if mine is LCD or CRT... It's flat, 19", about 1 inch thick, and I love it.
