didn't want to hijack anyone elses thread so i started a new one. i've already been contemplating building a speaker box to better fit the 7 i've got since the box i had in my 808 wont work in it. did a google search for something that would help me in some sort of wedge shape design, and found some interesting sites. the speakers i have r several yrs old 12" kicker comps and still work just fine, so i can't see buying new ones, even if i had the money to. anyway, thought i'd share a few links i found.

I usually design my enclosures according to the specs that come with the subs, with some small variations if i'm porting instead of venting the enclosure.

Thats the correct way to do it. The subs come with volume specs and you build the box to hold that volume. For example, the volume for a new Kicker Comp is Ported - 1.75cu.ft.; Sealed - 1.25cu.ft. I'm not sure if there is a difference between old and new though. And IMO, sealed FTW.

sealed will sound better than ported most of the time. If you're low on power you can make the box bigger than specs. The bigger the box the more efficiently the sub will use the power, but you should still know what you're doing, especially if you're porting it. You need to figure out what frequency you're tuning it to first.

No, because the boxes I'm building need to be generic... I'm just trying to get maximum sealed airspace in a limited environment. Usually what I do is build my box to the ideal airspace provided by the company that builds it.
