Personally... laptops are one thing that if I were going to pay out for one.... I'd go with the best.

Typically I hate sony electronics and products... however, if you can't go with a custom asus model or something with an oem copy of XP pro... i'd walk in a store and buy nothing but a vaio.

didnt read the above, what you have now is probably better than mine.

have you ever heard of Larsa I know a guy who works for them sounds similar to what you do.

do NOT get a Vaio, unless you intend to completely wipe the hard drive and start fresh with your own OS. those things are pieces of trash.

right now, our doctors have been purchasing the IBM X41 - it's lightweight, compact, and they absolutely love it. i work at Johns Hopkins, by the way...

another option i'd consider is a Fujitsu Lifebook. those suckers can take a beating.

Find yourself a Toshiba tablet. Should be able to get one for around a grand, maybe less now.

For my MegaSquirt, I had bought a Dell L400

It costs about $300, runs MegaTune just fine, weighs nothing. :p

Then I crashed the car and it became one with the glovebox.

I'd also look into the Latitude D610 with the Pentium M and CMT.

thanks for the comments guys, but i am kinda set on a tablet... to run the programs i mentioned what should i get, like to what specs... i see all the options when i look at the gateways and toshibas, but i have no idea what any of it does, other then make the price go up.... like should i get the 80 gig hard drive with blah blah blah... i have no idea the relationship they have with the programs, speed of the program etc
