I like to keep a clean desktop. I currently have 11 icons, and it gets on my nerves. Is there a program that enables me to just hover my mouse over a single icon, and the other stuff sort of pops up for me to click on? Does that make sense?

I'm just looking for something more sleek/attractive. But I guess a folder will do.

I was serious. Click start, right click in the blank space when the menu pops up and click properties. Then click customize and add what you need.

Edit: You will have to click and drag them over instead, I just checked.

Lightstep :p

I'm having fun playing with the themes and such, but I'm not going to get into all the complicated crap. Let me know if you have any recommendations for themes you like.

Glad to help. I don't use lightstep, I dont have that kinda time to just mess around with my "user experience"

I'm a system admin. By the time I get home from work I'm so tired of computers all I want to do with them is play Go and check TFL.

On my Vista Machine, I only have a background, no icons. The start menu is chock full of win, too.

I have yet to even try out Vista on any machine.

You're not missing anything. Except your monitor throwing up on you constantly.

So with litestep, I had only been trying out themes that work on the explorer shell. Just kind of changed the fonts, sizes, and colors of everything.

I finally downloaded the whole litestep shell, holy crap this thing is neat. It's going to take some time getting used to (I have absolutely no programming knowledge, the litestep forum is probably going to get tired of me real quick), but I like it.

If my company's IT guys ever have to get on my computer, they'll probably chew me out. Oh well.

Or, if they're like me, they'll just re-image it every time there is a problem. :-p

Add the shortcuts to the quick launch bar... slide the little bar and make the quick launch virtually disappear... click arrow when you want all of the shortcuts.

Done.
