StockForNow 11-03-2002, 10:40 PM He has a corrado and wants some of your wolfsburg 1.8t. His aim sn is CorradoVedub Cosby 11-03-2002, 11:43 PM Larry's car is pretty cool. Luis, I got those lights for ya. Just let me know when you can meet me to give me the money. Uglymexican19 11-04-2002, 12:06 PM how much money is it ? corrado? those are fast!!! arent they supercharged? and sure why not i dont care losing is all gravy ... Daisybell 11-04-2002, 02:57 PM yea larry's car is no joke. I'll talk to him later tonite. I do'nt know if he called you out or anything but it'd be a good race. However it think Larry's car is beginning to show some age. lets line em up btw this is clint Epik 11-05-2002, 12:26 AM i dunno either of you guys, but if the guy (Larry) has a Corrado, and it is an SLC or Vr6..be afraid. Unless you have some serious airflow mods on the 1.8t it will be pretty bad. If it is only a G60, and is starting to "show some age" then you should have a close race, and probably will win. The G60 unless it has an upgraded pulley has always been a dog in the drags. Just my $.03.. Jeff Uglymexican19 11-05-2002, 05:36 PM what kinda air flow mods do u recomend? HighTachPrez 11-05-2002, 08:37 PM -intake -exhaust -remove cats (3" all the way does wonders for turbo cars) ...however i don't know how tempermental the VWs are when removing the cats -TB -port n polish in that order is probaby the most effective Uglymexican19 11-05-2002, 08:42 PM hmmm well i guess my next mod once i get money will be a full exhaust system and a downpipe. gah i need cash soo bad! Epik 11-09-2002, 10:03 PM I see in your sig, Luis that you have a P chip. In the 1.8T the chip usually increases boost as well as fuel and timing. Keep in mind that in a VW, esp an OBD2+ VW, you cannot remove the cats or it will go into limp mode. One trick that you can try, it has worked on Hondas, Nissans and Mazdas that I have done, you can remove the cats, but you need to remove the second o2 sensor from the exhaust stream. It is when the second o2 reads the same air content values as the first that you start to have problems and check lights. In other words, the second o2 sensor is looking for "cleaner" air values than the first. If they breathe the same quality of air, then you get a check light and limp mode for, among other things, "catalyst efficiency below threshold"..meaning time to replace your cat. By having the second o2 out in the fresh air (we strap them over the heat shield under the car) then you are sampling fresh air, and the first o2 sensor is sampling the exhaust...just like the computer wants. Good luck. Sorry Luis, you'll have to do a little more work for this guy, if it is running like it should be. Jeff BlueCalx 11-10-2002, 04:41 PM also Luis, if you do this thing w/ the cats and O2 sensors, you'll need something to plug the o2 sensor holes in the exhaust. I've never heard of just taking them out and strapping them somewhere that will sample fresh air actually working, but then I only know what works and doesn't for ls1 cars. (In an ls1's case, you have to buy friggin' o2 sensor "simulators" and they're like 80 bucks. ) Good luck Rob Epik 11-10-2002, 08:33 PM I have used that trick on 99 Miatas, 96-up Civics and Integras and more. Basically anything OBD2 that has more than one o2 sensor. Works everytime. I have an OBD2 scanner and can verify proper operation of the systems. Jeff Cosby 11-10-2002, 10:11 PM o2 sensor simulator = resistor somewhere preludedude 11-11-2002, 10:49 AM seen thet VW Corrado at Spartanburg Tech...didnt know it was supercharged...thats cool... Mark 95SE 91lx 11-11-2002, 11:27 AM Im getting a custom chip made later this year. I had the o2 simulators for my car but they quit working right. Its cutting my timing and messing with my A/F. Not bad with nitrous but on motor it loses a few rwhp. |
