Anybody can take a freaking 4 or 500 cubic inch engine and make it fast. *Like MrBrian has said before: get a pinto, drop a new engine in it, bottle feed it, and youll be running 9's. *

There is no need in getting all pissed like you are. *I guarantee you there arent many, if any at all, &quot;ricers&quot; here on this site. *For me, i like curves. *There are other aspects of racing than just straight lines you know. *Of course, you could kill all of us in a line but come to an AutoX.

Ive heard it before and ill repeat it: *Straight lines are fun...but taking 20 mph curves at 40,60,70 mph takes balls. *since youre the one talking about having balls, try that.

for me, its alot harder to take a 4 cylinder or an inline 6 and make it fast and make it respectable. *I just like the challenge that it proposes. *I never got into cars until a friend of mine introduced me to supras and from then on ive been into imports and im tired of people getting on to them all the time just like you did. *hell i drive a hyundai accent and will get waxed at all aspects of racing but i would rather have that than a mustang. *no offense to anyone...you should drive what you want.

it takes alot more work to send any car to the 9's than youd think. &nbsp;the suspention work alone is mind boggiling (yes they do supention stuff on DRAG cars). you have to get the car to pick up the front wheels to get maximum weight transfer but you cant let it come up too far or youre wasting power that could be used to propel the car forward. you have to get it to launch straight. &nbsp;and it is a bit harder to get the power made than it seems. if it was easy id be doing it already <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

i know there are lots more than engines in straight lines. &nbsp;i was just mad. &nbsp;i didnt mean any offense to anybody. &nbsp;i like drag racing a good bit. &nbsp;im at shadyside at least 2 or 3 thursdays a month and my dad works for the nhra.

there is an excess of 5.0's down at shadyside though....lol

I got one reply of &quot;hell no, that is imports only race.&quot; If you read the november 2001 of Hot Rod, they took a 68 Camaro Z-28(same suspension as my car) and it did the course in twenty one seconds.... On the contrary that may not be quick for a hundred yard course consiting of 18 cones but a corvette Z06 did it in 17.5................new mustangs did it in 19 flat......Dont talk to me about having balls. I'de do it in a heartbeat. And ya know what the funny thing is, my car aint made to do that, but the hell no really got to me. Import started it..I finished it

And on the four or five hundred cubic inch thing... Im running less that any chevrolet V-8 out there. less that 427, 400, 383,350, 327, 307, and an 87-92 iroc 5-speed has more cubes than me. I have a 302 cubic inch chevrolet motor. Now thats bigger than imports no doubt, but still not quite competitive when it comes to what you think a muscle car is. It has one of the wierdest sounds at high rpm than any other V8. You should hear it. Its sounds cool, yet awesome in its own since too.

Nah it just kind of makes me mad, that all the &quot;feature cars&quot; just happen to be imports. Doesnt that seem strange to you. I sure do think that way. So it just made me a little mad when that guy told me that auto crosses were for imports only. My car may not be that fastest on this site, but it sure can hang with the best of them, I assure you that.

By the way, raw power is a large part in racing in a straight line, whether it be import or domestic. *The suspension is built to reduce wheel-hop while promoting traction and weight shift to the rear (RWD setup). *Also how light does the car with the 79 cubes? *Those rotaries are stout, but the shells are light when they run those times. *The fastest rotary in the world runs a 7.3 in the 1/4 (http://www.rx7.com/racing/content/times.html) and that was a 2.0L 3-Rotor.

The design for most domestics include larger displacement/more low end power, because that is what the buyers of those cars want. *A torquey car is easier to drive in the city anyways (acceleration with fewer revs...push-rod engines usually display this). *I used to have an AWD DSM and that was a bitch to drive around town comparitivly. *Always waiting for turbo spool, etc. *Meanwhile in my parents' Jeep, 1500rpms is about the average shift point.

In the end it shouldn't be import vs. domestic. *It should be more about a fast car because it is fast, not separating the two. *For example, for a street car a 13 second car is a 13 second car. *That is quick, whether it is a v8 or an import 4 banger or rotary, that shouldn't matter.

And if anyone has the right to complain about new technology it is me.....I have the newest technology in engines as far as gasoline powered cars are concerned. *And that is even newer than any sort of variable valve technology. *Mine was invented after the rotary was. *GO MILLER CYCLE!!! <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
