BATMAN 10-22-2008, 01:14 PM The commute was pretty light at 6:30am~ in the morning on the way up to work on 880.
I saw this car from a distance and at first I thought it was a second gen Integra with the fog lights on since they are at the same level as the headlights.
He was moving at 90MPH~
As the car approached on my right I ID'd it as a Mustang with it's fog lights on and started to signal.
He hit his brakes, probably realizing that he just came across a GTO and let me merge in front of him.
As traffic opened up we got side by side and opened it up.
By the end of 4th gear I had a bus length on him.
He tried 4 times and same result.
Then he exited and shortly thereafter the freeway was like a parking lot thanks to a big rig explosion with 8500 gallons of fuel in it.

wonner 10-22-2008, 01:24 PM Luckily I took 580 this morning...and even that was backed up at the Rt. 80 merger.
wonner 10-22-2008, 06:46 PM Now 880 SB is closed...580 is all fucked up. Thank god for smartphones. :D
Newsflash: New mustangs, and stock GT's period aren't fast, or something to brag about beating in heavily modified cars.

THIS!
You may as well just go stomping school buses, because it's just as useless.
BATMAN 10-23-2008, 04:06 PM We did it in different positions.
One time I was coming from behind on his tail.
The other time we switched position and he took his turn.
The difference was that I was closing in on his tail and when he tried to nail me from behind he started to look like he hit reverse by accident...

...and? You stomped a stock car. Your Maggie's putting down... 550?

This post seems very gay for some reason...

My GTO already makes 100HP more than that GT.
Maggie adds 135HP to the crank.
Intake, headers, full exhaust picks up the rest.
Total crank HP is about 600.
Fendamonky 10-27-2008, 06:42 AM I just beat up on a brand new Mustang GT with a very impressive sounding exhaust last Sunday...we ran three times, fourth gear he lost especially bad (the FD really flies on these cold nights), for the last run he sliced in and out of traffic to catch me for a fifth gear run and I pulled him past 140, then he still wasn't done, tried a fly bye and I gave him a extra big thumbs down
another Mustang humbled...
See... it's SHIT attitudes like yours that makes me hate some "car enthusiasts". Seriously, is the thumbs down really necessary???
Way to be a pretentious prick on the road. It's immature ass hats like you who make the piston community think that 7 owners are wannabe elitist assholes.
I would pay to see my buddy stomp your ass in his '99 Mustang GT. I'd pay, then laugh my ass off at you as we left you behind as a speck on the road. Fellow 7 owner or not, you don't deserve the inherent respect.

Why don't you come up with something that'll do the job? I'm sure YZF has buddies too.

.... My 7 is making (a reliable) 383rwhp with sequential BNR's... my car can do the job. I didn't feel it necessary to bring into the conversation because I'm not trying to insight an e-dick measuring contest (which he would surely turn it into).
The reason I mentioned my friends mustang (he's in Iraq atm, we're putting a turbo'd 5.5 liter in it when he gets back. Have most of the parts at my house right now) was because of the obvious disdain 'ole boy showed, simply because it was a Mustang.
It's not about my car, or my friends car. It's about his shitty attitude. The same attitude that makes me LOVE beating up on arrogant old fucks driving around here in their TVR's and Aston Martin's, thinking they are the absolute shit and rule the road. Their refusal to make eye contact after getting stomped by what they assumed was some punk ass kid in a cheap old Japanese car brings glee to my heart. That is what I was talking about.
Fendamonky 10-27-2008, 10:52 AM how is that any different? I hate Mustangs with a passion
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of Mustangs either. But a car is a car, the owner and his/her attitude is what makes the difference in my mind.
You neglected to mention how much of a twat he was being on the road before the run. That's kind of a big deal when it comes to others perception of hero/villain in a story like this...
And (as it stands right now) it would be close between our cars, however I've yet to get retuned after A/I, and the vmic going in early/mid-next month will make a large difference (roughly 383rwhp at 1.1bar and about 40c AIT's, I'm interested to see what I'll make at 1.3-1.4 bar after the new IC setup). When my car hits the states again I intend to be closer to what Rich (Goodfella) was doing on his BNRs before he switched to a single..
Fendamonky 10-27-2008, 11:18 AM Yeah... I feel you on the end of unnecessary spending.. Once my hood arrives and the vmic is in/tuned I'll be back to just maint. Until I deploy again.. than it will be suspension/driveline and a new coat of paint.
Who said anything about a dyno queen??? I dd mine, lol!
5.5L... you mean 5.4? 2v or 3v?
400 hp/tq in a mustang is much different than 400 hp/tq from a rotary. A race could be setup to the advantage of one or the other. The FD is obviously a true sports car, the mustang isn't... but if drag racing is your thing, the mustang is a better choice.
Mustangs are much more reliable, cheaper, and easier to deal with as well... it all depends on what you want.
BATMAN 10-27-2008, 12:11 PM good luck...I'm done spending money on the FD money pit for now, the car is fast enough and very reliable, heck, there are people running low 11s with these cars and 360 hp, it's pretty amazing...I don't think the single turbo dyno queens are worth much except for high speed freeway rolls (which can be dangerous, even though yes I've done it), drag racing, and/or and bragging rights
my engine builder has a single turbo making over 400 and he loves the power delivery on my car with less peak hp
100% agree.

No... I mean 5.4 overbored 20, making it essentially a 5.5 liter, than it's getting turbos. EVERYTHING is going to be built in this thing... I expect it to take my 7 pretty easily, and I don't typically say that lightly.
Fendamonky 10-27-2008, 03:43 PM drag racing is pretty mindless imo, but no question a full frame car with a strong engine/trans is a far better choice...why drag race an FD? what's the point? you want to look sexy going down the strip?
Agreed. I've only been once, I figure I'll go again come spring time, just for a before/after comparison in times. Just the same as I'll have a before/after comparison for dyno numbers (before tune and turbo's/all mods associated with them I made 247rwhp {add 15-18% for American comparable number} Currently making 325 on same type dyno (Dyno-Dynamics brand) and expect a good bit more with the IC/boost).
Drag racing doesn't really do much, though it *is* as close to a universal comparison of different cars as possible. And, if you go with friends it can be a great day out!

Modular motors are def more boost-friendly that 5 slows :)

Why is it that the Ford GT is using a F/I 5.4 than??
BATMAN 10-27-2008, 03:51 PM Is teh Ford GT engine from their truck?
Fendamonky 10-27-2008, 03:53 PM I can't remember off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure it's a Modular though...
I'm not talking about the old foxbody 5.0's =P
i meant 5.slow = 5.0... yes all 5.4's and 4.6's are modular motors... that particular one is more than likely a PI setup, good bit more power factory.
