Man Killed by Carnival Ride
WHIDBEY ISLAND, WA-August 17, 2003 — A man has been killed in a Washington state carnival ride accident, after his hair got caught in the equipment.
Forty-year-old Doug McKay, owner of the Super Loop 2 was spraying lubricant on the tracks while the ride was in progress.

His long hair was caught in a passing car full of fairgoers -- and he was pulled as high as 40 feet off the ground before falling on top of a fence.

Hundreds of people witnessed the accident.

Grief counselors were on hand, but the Island County Fair is continuing this weekend.

Roller coasters ARE fun, it's having the long hair thats deadly, damn hippy. I remember my dad telling me about this guy he knew in high school. We were under my moms car, it was up on jack stands, listening for a noise with the engine running and tranny in gear when he told us about this guy that he went to school with that had long hair and was under his car just like we were and the wind was blowing his hair around and it got wrapped up in the driveshaft as it was turning, pulled his scalp right off. Dad knew how to work on cars and that's how I learned. I think it had something to do with that guy and the fact that dad was in the military, that me and my brother grew up with the crew cut hair style. He gave us our hair cuts. I hated them then, don't mind them now since it is an excepted style now. U know, I tell ppl I don't pay for something I can do myself, well, there ya go, I cut my own hair.

dont let this scare you a bout riding coasters.

it happened at a lower budget park, where safety standards aren't equivalent to those at larger parks.

stats show you your more likely to die on the way to a park than in a park.

stats also say that flying in a plane is an assload safer than driving a car....but more people are scared of planes than cars. i honestly think its a control issue.
