Honestly i can say its an awesome car but for 30k i could think of better cars to buy. A sti,Evo,single turbo fd(heh) c5 corvette,350z, and etc. :dunno: Mazda would get much better sales with a lower price tag.

FeatherTheClutch 08-03-2005, 07:50 AM So i think they go for 30-35k, and after being in one i must say i AM IN LOVE!. Its so comfortable and huggs the road like its connected to it. It is not very fast but a good looking, comfy, good handleing, potential to be fast car. Honestly i can say its an awesome car but for 30k i could think of better cars to buy. In it's current state, it doesn't impress me all that much... SpartanTS 08-03-2005, 08:08 AM So i think they go for 30-35k, and after being in one i must say i AM IN LOVE!. I don't think I could live with an Evo or STi for a daily driver. 1 bad 7 08-03-2005, 08:28 AM Hell, I saw a brand new fully loaded model for $22k when the 2005's came and the dealers were clearing old stock. Just gotta know how to look (if only I had had the money then!). iamdrunk 08-03-2005, 11:22 AM Hell, I saw a brand new fully loaded model for $22k when the 2005's came and the dealers were clearing old stock. Just gotta know how to look (if only I had had the money then!). I agree. When I was living in Philly this past winter, Brandywine Mazda (near West Chester) had 31 RX8's on their lot for over 60 days. My father asked his salesman friend how much they were going for 'off sticker'. He said if you got one without NAV, you could get one for about $24K. That was over the winter, so I'm sure that's no longer valid. lol. aznpoopy 08-03-2005, 11:29 AM Eh, it could be better... In it's current state, it doesn't impress me all that much... me neither it does have some sexy lines though too bad spec wise it kind of sucks maybe in a few interations they'll work out the kinks and bump up the hp to where it should be. 91lx 08-03-2005, 11:30 AM I dont see a problem getting one in the $20-23k range just looking at some local pricing. another question wth is Shinka ? 91lx 08-03-2005, 11:32 AM oh ya its getting close to year end model closeout. forgot about that. The base model has all the go-fast goodies and only lacks the better stereo, leather, sunroof, etc. So for $26k, it's a pretty freaking good bargain. That said, it isn't selling spectacularly well. I suspect it's because there just isn't enough power for the average car buyer who is wooed by Altimas and Maximas with 250+ HP. aznpoopy 08-03-2005, 11:50 AM another question wth is Shinka ? its a super elite special edition trim "”SHINKA” in Japanese means “evolution” or “transformation” and with the RX-8, Mazda transforms the rotary-powered car into a more luxurious package. Only 2,150 “SHINKA” Special Editions will be built. This RX-8 can be configured with the six-speed manual and 238-hp engine or a four-speed automatic with the 198-hp engine and steering-wheel-mounted paddles for manual gear shifting. The suspension gets a tweak with a foam urethane filled front suspension cross member and specially tuned dampers to improve rigidity and stability. Outside the car features the Black Cherry paint (only color available), semi-gloss bevels for the headlamps and tail lamps and dark-silver gloss aluminum wheels. Inside you can sit in the tan leather interior and enjoy a 300-watt Bose sound system with in-dash 6 disc CD changer. All cars get a one-year subscription Sirius radio included. More pictures at the link." aznpoopy 08-03-2005, 11:59 AM That said, it isn't selling spectacularly well. I suspect it's because there just isn't enough power for the average car buyer who is wooed by Altimas and Maximas with 250+ HP. there's a couple of reasons it isn't selling too great. for 26k you could run out and get a 350z instead, which makes a bit more power. people who might be interested in the suicide door go out and get a FWD sedan with more instead, as you said. finally, (and i suspect this is the biggest reason) there are many issues with this car. on the rx8 forum you see stickies about ECU reflash, flooding issues, transmission issues (rebuild at 10k), and many blown engines at low mileage (and not from bad ownership). Manntis 08-03-2005, 12:44 PM sadly, Mazda is ranking second to last among automotive manufacturers with 149 problems per 100 cars sold. Mercedes has slipped a few notches, which is one reason why Jurgen was recently fired. Hyundai, meanwhile, has gone from making disposable cars to being near the top for quality control. vrooom305 08-03-2005, 12:49 PM [fast&tehfurious] because it came over night from JAPAN! [/fast&tehfurious] vrooom305 08-03-2005, 12:51 PM Hyundai, meanwhile, has gone from making disposable cars to being near the top for quality control. no shit....there's been times where I wish I got a Hyundai :spank: BATMAN 08-03-2005, 12:58 PM So i think they go for 30-35k, and after being in one i must say i AM IN LOVE!. I want my peripheral exhaust 4 ports back. :banghead: Savington 08-03-2005, 01:15 PM You can get an RX-8 for well under 30k. I don't think I could live with an Evo or STi for a daily driver. I think I could make do with an Evo as a DD. It'd be a rough life, but.. :firedevil SpartanTS 08-03-2005, 01:18 PM I haven't had a ride in an EVO first hand, but i've driven an STi, and it'd be impossible for me to live with that for a daily driver. Honestly, if I had to choose a daily driver, i'd be something along the lines of a RWD V8 Cruiser. I've thought about pickin up a 98+ Crown Vic for a highway cruiser. If I wanted a weekend toy, and I could bare the insurance rates, a EVO or STi would be great. maniacmikey 08-03-2005, 01:28 PM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-PONTIAC-GTO-WARRANTY-1-OWNER-12K-MILES-LS1-V8-6-SP_W0QQitemZ4565358323QQcategoryZ7244QQssPageNameZ WDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 350 hp rwd 6spd 91lx 08-04-2005, 12:24 AM didn't gm underrate the ls1 and overrate the ls2 ? just something i read when they came out never have looked again. gotbass 09-07-2005, 01:24 PM You can get an RX-8 for less than a EVO, S2000, STi, 350Z, G35, and R32. I drove them all and thought the 8 was the best. BATMAN 09-07-2005, 01:44 PM .....but i've driven an STi, and it'd be impossible for me to live with that for a daily driver. elaborate. |
