Way to go. BATMAN 08-12-2005, 08:19 AM Question Manntis. Did u get expressed permission from Mazda and Honda to use their logos in monetary gain? Manntis 08-12-2005, 11:32 AM As I said to the same question in RX7club.com, trademark does not apply to published or filmed satire. That's how people are able to make stickers of the Ford or Chevy logos being pissed on, or film SNL or Mad TV skits making fun of a particular company. BATMAN 08-12-2005, 01:05 PM is this canadian law? Manntis 08-12-2005, 05:31 PM Canadian and American. Surely you've seen the chvy-logos-being-pissed-on stickers on the backs of Ford trucks and vice versa? And you're aware both Mad TV and SNL are filmed in the US? Or like those shirts that feature the Pillsbury Dough Boy with the slogan 'Poke Me And Die!'. If one of Pillsbury's competitors used that image to promote their products, it would infringe on Pillsbury's trademarks. But the use of it in the case of a joke, such as in the shirt, is permitted. Similarely, the claymation skit where the same Pillsbury Dough Boy is baked and eaten. |
